Groundwork Title

Greetings!

Batten down your trampolines, check your moorings, autumn is on its way. We’ve got dogs thinking they are bitches in the forum and we’re thinking spring colour? Crazy stuff! We’re so lucky to be in the business of promoting some wonderful people, ideas and products. It keeps us on the ground. We’ve even been offered beer from Limberg brewery and a pair of the latest Crocks shoes landed on my desk a couple of weeks ago. Paving samples arrive on our doorstep and there’s a new product on its way from the deep south. It’s what I set out to do; create a space where people can share ideas, show their products and create wonderful landscapes. There are so many innovative creative and inspiring ideas in this country and this site offers a way to put them all in one place.

There’s nothing like a cold beer after a hard days landscaping and slipping out of your work boots into a pair of Crocks and putting your feet up :-)

Hope you enjoy this issue!

Help - Dogs are killing my lawn!
    A dog's lawn

A recent forum post will have dog lovers 'pricking up their ears' as we search for the perfect cure for the lawn destroyed by our canine friends. And no, we're not talking about digging holes - we're talking about burning them!

    Oh Baby!

A useful Kiwi website that’s come to our attention recently is OhBaby.co.nz, a guide to pregnancy and parenting in NZ. This is what our very pregnant Marketing Manager had to say about it:

OhBaby.co.nz has lots of parallels with Landscapedesign.co.nz. They’re reaching out to a niche audience too, and have made a fantastic job of the advice on the website for new and prospective parents. It reminds me of an online magazine as there are so many articles on every topic you could think of.

Like our website, they have competitions and online polls, and a community forum with an active membership. People are using the forum to share tips, ask questions about things that are worrying them, and sell, trade and exchange goods. I would recommend the website to any soon-to-be or new parents.

    Family fun in the garden

When designing or creating a garden many things are considered. One of the most important factors are the needs and wishes of the family as a whole...Mum, dad, the kids and the pets. As our lives get busier and people look for places to retreat and relax in, the garden can become a great place to have fun and bring the whole family together.

    Garden problems?

Stress in plants is the same as stress in us two legged's, when we are under stress our immune systems are weakened and we are more likely to catch colds and have other health issues.

Find out what causes stress in plants, the resulting effect, and how to treat it, in Wally Richard's latest column...

Nick Robinson's Design Series part 3 - Autumn
    Nick RObinson Header Image

This week it seems timely to celebrate autumn and plan planting schemes for the winter. The summer recedes, but autumn can be one of the most beautiful and colourful seasons and the autumn leaf colours last an unusually long time in New Zealand especially in the north where leaf fall is not speeded by frost and gale.

As the prospect of Autumn appears and the rains return it is the ideal time to start thinking about planting trees, shrubs and many perennials...

Don't forget to add your Autumn gardening queries to the forum - and remember to make the most of the daylight hours this weekend as daylight savings is about to come to a rude end this Sunday!

    Regards,

Tim Durrant and the team at Landscapedesign.co.nz
