We are off the beaten track a bit this issue but there are a few things I need to get off my chest.

Landscapedesign.co.nz is part of a new breed of information technology, striving to create a fast online environment rich in content and value for our visitors and customers. So when the old school expose their marketing tactics and the Government tackles them head on, we like to have a bit of a healthy dig.

Copper Wire
The rise of the information age in New Zealand is sluggish to say the least, but quite an exciting ride. This week we have had the biggest telecommunication service in New Zealand unbundled, like a tangled juvenile Matai maturing into adolescence. But I predict in the next 2-3 years all of this will be obsolete! - Wireless technology will leave Telecom’s archaic copper wire for dust - and the sooner the better. New Zealand is a nation of intellectual property and innovation, and we need to catch up with the rest of the world so we are not left behind.

So unbundling in the short term means that we will have realistic and fair priced internet connections - it’s about time.
Telecom
Did you know they were not being straight up? Telecom CEO Theresa Gattung admitted this week that they have been using “confusion as chief marketing tool to keep prices high...” and that “they (the consumer) know that we are not being straight up.” Woops that was about as straight up as it gets.

Landscapedesign.co.nz is a forward thinking progressive tool that is the backbone for all things landscaping and outdoors. We work out of a strong work ethic of honesty, integrity and good value. Our prices reflect the real cost, not monopoly driven prices delivered with confusing marketing. We are straight up about what we do and we offer real value and effective results for our clients and visitors. Support us and we will support you, no catches and no hidden costs. Our margins do not support one of the highest paid CEO's in the country.

Xanthe White
Stunning Xanthe White, a leading New Zealand Landscape designer has designed the 100% Pure New Zealand garden for Chelsea. Xanthe is supported by a talented small team of experienced professionals. Indigenous and rare species from New Zealand have been flown over for the garden raising a debate about exporting indigenous plants.

Xanthes Rationale for the garden
"My design is an expression of contemporary New Zealand art and culture and our relationship with the natural landscape. It explores the concept of guardianship of the land rather than ownership. "I wanted the garden to express New Zealand’s unique contemporary culture, a culture that's formed by isolation, a rich diversity of cultures and the magnetic pull of the natural landscape. A culture defines us."

Controversy
Unfortunately Xanthe has had to respond to criticism about the use of indigenous and rare New Zealand species. Green Party London assembly member MP Darren Johnson says that transporting the plants to Britain is a long and wasteful journey which burns up valuable fuel.
"Flying in plants thousands and thousands of miles, just for a five day event, we've got to remember aviation is now the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions." Johnson says.
Xanthe has responded by saying that once the plants have been displayed at the show they will be housed in a permanent collection at the Royal Horticultural Society’s garden just out of London. They’re building a fantastic new greenhouse which will show flora and fauna from all over the world.
Landscapedesign.co.nz wishes the team at Chelsea the best of luck with thier project and don’t let the politics get you down.

Duck Breast
Tis the season to shoot duck. But many think yuk, I don't like duck. Personally I am partial to a bit of duck this time of year, and enjoyed a great duck dinner on Saturday evening with friends.
