Winter Break is only two weeks away. If you're wondering when your final exams will be, the Final Exam Schedule can be found online (be sure to confirm your exam dates with your instructors, as well). It's also time to make plans for the spring semester. Registration is in progress for spring classes and they are filling up quickly, so be sure to register for spring classes on your priority registration date, which can be found on WebAdvisor. Please read on for more reminders, important dates and special opportunities you may not want to miss.

Need some assistance studying for final exams or writing a final paper? The Center for Academic Support is staying open late to help! On Wednesday, December 8th, from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m., reading and writing consultations, as well as peer tutoring, will be available on a drop-in basis.

Professional Boot Camp |
|
The LMC Career and Employment Centers, with the support of the LMC Foundation, will present the "Professional Boot Camp Workshop Series" on Fridays from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. beginning February 11, 2011. This free workshop series will help you obtain and develop skills that employers are looking for and help you navigate the world of work. Topics will include work ethics, communication skills, conflict resolution, networking, business etiquette and more. The deadline to apply is February 4, 2011 and enrollment is limited to 50 students. More information

Get Ready! Get Set! Go! Are you ready to do your FAFSA for the next academic year? The 2011-2012 FAFSA form will be available after January 1, 2011. You can easily apply online at www.fafsa.gov. Make sure you have everything you need to complete your FAFSA:
- Your Social Security card and driver's license
- W-2 form(s) or other records of income earned
- Your 2010 federal income tax return and your spouse's (if married)
- Your parent's 2010 federal income tax return, if applicable
- Records of other untaxed income received such as welfare benefits (including TANF), Social Security benefits, child support received, payments to IRAs or 401 (k)s, or military or clergy allowances
- Current bank statements and records of stocks, bonds and other investments
- Business or farm records, if applicable
- Your alien registration number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
The online FAFSA is available in English and Spanish, and has step-by-step instructions for you to follow. If you need help please come to one of our financial aid labs or one of the financial aid general workshops!
Financial Aid Lab Hours
The Financial Aid Lab is currently located in Room CO-200. During lab hours, students can receive assistance obtaining a FAFSA PIN, completing a new FAFSA or renewal FAFSA, setting up new e-mail access, adding the school code, and using WebAdvisor for financial aid purposes. Lab hours are Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Thursdays from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
General Financial Aid Workshops
These financial aid workshops present all of the financial assistance options available to college students and include hands-on assistance in applying for the student/parent PINs and completing the FAFSA online. The last fall 2010 workshop will be held at the Pittsburg campus on Thursday, December 9th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Library, Room 213. Spring 2011 workshop dates will be posted online soon.
Financial Aid Suspension Workshops
There are no remaining suspension workshops for fall 2010. The spring 2011 workshop dates will be posted soon on the Financial Aid web pages.
Cal Grant Deadline March 2nd
March 2nd is the state deadline to apply for a Cal Grant. If you have not been awarded a Cal Grant already, complete your 2011-2012 FAFSA (available after January 1, 2011) and GPA verification form by March 2nd. More information about GPA verification
Do you know what the Chaffee grant is? If you are or were in foster care, you may be eligible for a Chaffee Grant of up to $5,000 a year in addition to any other federal or state aid. To qualify for the Chaffee Grant, you must be enrolled at least half time and maintain good grades. A Social Security Number is not required. More information about the Chaffee Grant

Textbook Buyback and Customer Appreciation Sale
It's time for the textbook buyback! Bring your used textbooks to the Bookstore on December 13th through 16th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday December 17th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Remember to bring all CDs, DVDs and other supplemental materials that were included with your textbooks.
