    Parking Changes

Parking Lot B Closure and Expansion
If you have had difficulty parking at LMC this past year, you will be happy to to know that more than 400 parking spaces will be added to Parking Lot B this summer. Lot B will be closed for construction through August 12th and is expected to reopen in time for the start of fall semester on August 13th. Parking Lots A and C will remain open and provide plenty of parking for students taking summer classes or conducting business on campus.

We will send an update right before classes begin regarding Lot B status if, for some reason, the lot construction delays the opening of Lot B. You may also check the LMC Parking web page for Lot B status updates.

Transition from FFELP to Direct Loan Program
On March 30, 2010, President Obama signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HCERA) which makes significant changes to Federal Student Loan programs. One of the provisions of the HCERA is the elimination of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and implementation of the Federal Direct Loan Program. Therefore, effective July 1, 2010, all new Stafford, PLUS and consolidation loans will be funded and disbursed under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. The transition will be, for the most part, seamless; students and parents will obtain a Direct Loan in essentially the same manner as they would have under the FFELP loan program. Read more about the Federal Direct Loan Program.
