    Spring Refunds and Exchanges

    The last day for spring 2009 textbook refunds or exchanges is February 2nd. A receipt is required and returned books must be in their original condition.

    Financial Aid News

    Financial Aid Updates

    It is not too late to apply for 2008-2009 Financial Aid! Visit the FAFSA website.

    The last fall 2008 Pell Grant payday will be FRIDAY, December 5th by 2:30 p.m. If you have not received a payment for the fall 2008 semester, the next pay date will be in mid-January.

    The Financial Aid Office can process your BOG Fee Waiver and handle general financial aid questions at the front counter.

    Need assistance completing the FAFSA application? You are invited to attend a financial aid workshop on Wednesday, December 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the Library, room 213.

    Scholarship News

    Time to Apply for Scholarships

    The Los Medanos College Foundation Scholarship Program Application for the 2009-2010 academic year is available online. The deadline for submission is February 27th.

    The Kennedy-King Memorial Scholarship is a two-year scholarship of $4,000 for students planning to transfer in fall 2009 or spring 2010. Applications must be submitted by February 9th.

    Scholarship & Library Fundraiser at El Campanil Theatre

    Want to have fun, be inspired, and support fellow students? Learn what all the buzz is for Brian Copeland's Not a Genuine Black Man, playing at the El Campanil Theatre on Sunday, December 7th at 3:00 p.m. Raise money for scholarships and library books by attending with family and friends.

    Assessment Center

    The Assessment Center is open for drop-in testing through December 16th and will reopen after Winter Break on January 5th. No appointment is necessary and there is no fee. The drop-in assessment testing schedule can be viewed online. Testing is also available at Brentwood Center.

    Student Life Reminders

    LMC Spring Student Leadership Retreat, January 7 - 8
    This retreat will be held off campus at the Westminster Retreat Center in Alamo, CA. Through workshops, speakers, and activities, students will gain insight into their personal leadership styles, meet and connect with other LMC student leaders, and gain essential tools to be leaders in their clubs, organizations, programs, and communities. This year's retreat will be facilitated by special guest Glenn DeGuzman, Director for Student Leadership at UC Berkeley.

    This event is free. All meals and lodging will be provided.

    UC Berkeley Student Leadership Symposium, January 31
    This is an annual leadership conference at UC Berkeley dedicated to bringing together and inspiring student leaders in our community. Through workshops and networking opportunities, Leadership Symposium attendees are connected with essential tools to be agents of positive social change and leaders on campuses and in their communities. Participating students will join a group of nearly 500 students from many colleges around the Bay Area for this fun and exciting conference.

    This event is free. All meals and transportation will be provided.
