Yestermorrow Profile:

Art Schaller

Art Schaller, Instructor and Board Member

This March marks Art Schaller's ninth year as a member of Yestermorrow's Board of Directors.  And that means Art has reached the end of his third and final Board term and gets to take a well deserved break from board meetings, but not from Yestermorrow where he has taught since 1990.

In his nearly two decades at Yestermorrow, Art has made many important contributions including launching our successful remote program at Ball State University in Indiana, and our much lauded work on the Lakota reservation in South Dakota in the mid-1990s.

Art has taught many classes here at Yestermorrow over the years, and continues to offer the ever-popular Rustic Furniture workshop each June.

In addtion to his teaching and Board of Director duties at Yestermorrow, Art currently serves as Head of the Division of Architecture and Art at Norwich University. He has a particular interest in the remodeling and reuse of old structures and in using recycled or found materials in his art.  In our book, Art Schaller is found art.  Many thanks!

Greetings!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making Yestermorrow's current fiscal year its best year yet for fundraising.

Your generosity helps us better achieve our educational mission and opens our doors to more and more students who need a little help to benefit from a Yestermorrow experience.  And it makes it easier for staff and instructors to do the good work in the community that separates Yestermorrow from other educational facilities.

So thanks again to all those who gave this year. And to those who are considering a gift there is still time to hit the donation button, use the return envelope from our catalog or simply send us a check.  Your generous support will always be put to good use.

Thank you all,

Bob Ferris
Yestermorrow Executive Director

YERT YM video still

YERTpod21:Building the Future at Yestermorrow ...

Last fall we called upon the Yestermorrow community to watch a YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip) video profiling seven worthy Vermont non-profits including Yestermorrow.  The YERT team offered the organization receiveing the highest number of votes from the on-line community an expanded video profiling their organization. Our electronic community turned out in droves and voted for us. Thanks to all of you, Yestermorrow is the subject of a new video, compliments of YERT.  (click here to see the full video)

What is Green Real Estate Development?

green real estate development

Green Real Estate and green development represent an important new opportunity and many people are eager to know more about it. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the issues giving participants a solid understanding of the subject, preparing them for real-world application or advanced studies. Course material will be presented in a practical and interactive process suitable for the average person with a professional interest in green real estate or green development.

This three day course that runs from Feb. 20 through Feb. 22 will be led by Ed Lowans who has led sustainability teams on precedent-setting projects for over 30 years, advancing the art and science of green business, policy, planning, buildings, technology transfer, and building science. Ed has provided sustainable design consulting for over 100 advanced planning and design projects internationally, including many LEEDŽ projects.

Case studies, the local environment and the Yestermorrow campus will be used to critically explore a range of practical issues. Read more about Green Real Estate or register for this innovative class here.
