Greetings!
Hello from Yestermorrow! Once a month, we bring
you updates on what's happening on campus,
upcoming classes, instructor profiles, and stories
from Yestermorrow alumni.
| Changes in the Yestermorrow Family |
 |
|
This year's changes, improvements and growth at the
school have necessitated changes in staffing with old
faces wearing new hats and new faces joining the
Yestermorrow team.
Yestermorrow is very pleased to welcome Erin
Russell-Story to our merry band of sustainable
design/build advocates and practitioners as the new
Director of Community Relations. Erin will be
spending most of her time getting the word out about
what Yestermorrow is doing and what we need in
terms of resources to accomplish our mission. Erin
most recently coordinated a capital campaign in
Winooski and served as Scudder Parker's
communications honcho during his recent
gubernatorial bid in Vermont. She's also been
active on energy issues over the past decade. Erin is
a Valley resident and lives with her husband Dan who
is a local carpenter. Welcome Erin!
Dan Eckstein, formerly in charge of outreach, has
become our Curriculum Director, and Kate
Stephenson has been promoted to Director of
Operations. Monica DiGiovanni converted to full-time
as the Student Services Manager and John White
joined the staff as Interim Facilities Manager as we
wait to see how Steven Butler's recovery progresses.

| Give Them What They Really Want: A Yestermorrow Gift Certificate |
 |
|
The holidays are traditional times for gift-giving.
Traditions are generally good, but does your loved one
really need that computerized toenail
clipper or hand-dyed, yak yarn sweater?
What if you give them a
Yestermorrow Gift Certificate?
They'll think that you are a really smart and
generous spouse and you might finally get that
remodeling job, stained glass window, concrete
counter top or treehouse for the kids.
Gift certificates can be made out for any amount, or
for
any class. Call us at 802-496-5545 to
get your Yestermorrow Gift Certificate

| Make a Difference in Costa Rica |
 |
|
Although blues legend Taj Mahal once sang about the
virtues of drinking all the liquor down in Costa Rica,
Yestermorrow has a far better idea. Why not learn
about designing with nature and help build an
ecologically responsible community near the coast of
Central America? Expanding your brain and doing
good seems a much better use of time.
Each student will student will create their own
independent design project and learn about the
design/build process in a tropical environment.
Ecological Design/Build in Costa Rica
runs from February 17-29, 2008. Sign up
now to get a space!

Yestermorrow Profile: Board Member, John "Sucosh" Norton |
|
|
|
When you need just a little bit more out of something
John "Sucosh" Norton is your man. Currently, vice-
president of the Yestermorrow Board, Sucosh was
recently appointed chair of our Steering Committee,
which is charged with facilitating needed campus
growth. We picked him because he loves the Valley,
has a history of getting things done, and thinks that
Yestermorrow is the right organization at the right
time.
Sucosh moved to Vermont in 1970 where he became
one of the first Dimetrodon denizens on Prickly
Mountain. He came here to begin a furniture making
business, but went on to develop wood stoves for
Vermont Castings, distribute wind turbines for
Northern Power Systems, and design innovative
wastewater treatment systems with his own company,
Four Elements Corporation.
He left the state for a while to manage a commercial
fishing venture, but returned to hold several senior
management positions at Controlled Energy
Corporation/BBT North America until he left there to
become Chief Operating Officer of NRG Systems in
Hinesburg, VT. Now his time is tied up with NRG
Systems' rapid growth in the wind power
measurement arena and their new small-scale wind
power venture: Earth Turbines.
Sucosh helped lead the strategic plan formulation and
now is heading the most important aspect of that
plan's implementation. We feel that we have the right
person at the right time for Yestermorrow.
