10 ways to give, advocate and volunteer "10 More" during the holidays

 

'Tis the season of shopping and celebration. Fall is also a wonderful time to better your community. Consider these 10 easy ways to do "10 More":

GIVE
  1. Visit any Cascade Bank branch by Dec. 17 and
    donate $10.
  2. Shop at Borders at Everett Mall, Alderwood Mall or online Dec. 10-12 and use coupon code UWSC1210W. Borders will donate 10 percent of your purchase to United Way.

Campaign update
Preliminary results show strong support

 

Fall is the busiest time for United Way fundraising campaigns. Thanks to all donors and companies who are responding generously to our community's needs-some far surpassing the "10 More" goal over what they gave last year. Here are some preliminary results:
  • Fred Meyer stores: +173%
  • Stillaguamish Senior Center: +88%
  • Triumph Structures - Everett: +55%
  • Campbell's StockPot: +28%
  • Premera Blue Cross: +11%

Local restaurants support United Way

"10 More Makes a Difference" campaign raises $4,200


United Way of Snohomish County: Shawn O'Donnell'sThanks to local restaurants who participated in the "10 More Makes a Difference" campaign, raising more than $4,200 to help kids, families and our community: Chanterelle, The Loft, Pine Street Grille at the Holiday Inn Downtown Everett, LaCuesta Mexican Restaurant, Lanna Thai, La Palmera (Everett and Mill Creek), Nakorn Thai, Shawn O'Donnell's American Grill and Irish Pub, Sockeye's, Amici Bistro, Mukilteo Lodge Sports Grille, Blackbird Bakery Café and Gerry Andal's. Thanks also to sponsors Fox Sports 1380 (KRKO) and 90.7 KSER-FM Independent Public Radio.

MLK Jr. Community Celebration to take place Jan. 12

Community encouraged to attend free events commemorating Dr. King's life

United Way of Snohomish County: Martin Luther King Jr.Starting with the annual Diversity Breakfast at Everett's Holiday Inn, community members can celebrate Dr. King's legacy throughout the day. All events are free and open to the public; however, reservations are required for the breakfast.

Sponsored by the City of Everett, Snohomish County, United Way of Snohomish County and the YMCA of Snohomish County.

 

New Board Member: Bruce Spalding

 

Welcome to United Way's newest board member, Bruce Spalding. Working for IAM District Lodge 751, Bruce previously served on the board from 2003-2007.

 

United Way team welcomes two AmeriCorps VISTAs
New staff will give a year of service, expanding United Way's capacity

United Way is pleased to welcome Alicia Haynes and Amber Lynn Daniel as AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers for the year. Alicia's focus is financial education, while Amber Lynn will concentrate on Youth United and Youth Developmental Assets.

Nearly 10,000 sq. ft. available in downtown Everett

TUnited Way of Snohomish County's Office Building in Downtown Everetthe first floor of United Way's building in downtown Everett is available for lease. The 9900 sq. ft. includes access to I-5, Everett Station and dedicated parking spots.
