From dollars to difference: meet Christine
 
United Way of Snohomish County: Christine
Christine can't take her children to the library - four-year-old Christopher's physical impairments make it impossible. Christine can't buy books, either - living below the poverty level means money is reserved for groceries and rent. Luckily, with support from United Way and its partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the books now come to them. Read more.
 
Business and nonprofit organizations convene for summit on "mobilizing to meet human needs"
 
Citizens who live and/or work in Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville or Mill Creek are invited to join in a community conversation Friday, June 18 at
Cascadia Community College's Mobius Hall. Visit uwsc.org to register today for this free event that will include a first-hand report from those on the frontlines of human services.
 
Nominations open for Roger Bouck Award for Volunteerism in Action
 
The Roger Bouck Award is given annually to an individual or organization that exhibits a visible, community-wide focus on volunteerism year-round. The winner will be recognized during United Way's annual Volunteer Appreciation Night on Monday, Aug. 9.
Nomination forms are due Friday, July 9.

The first floor of the

United Way announces new board member
 
United Way of Snohomish County: Sue AmblerUnited Way of Snohomish County announces the election of Sue Ambler, president/CEO of the Workforce Development Council of Snohomish County, to the board of directors. Ambler has nearly 30 years' experience in public and private industry, including time spent in aerospace, education and workforce development.
