United Way of Snohomish County: Thanks Loyal Contributor

United Way of Snohomish County: Loyal Contributors

"I may not be able to contribute a large dollar amount, but I like to think that every dollar counts and that I am helping the community."

- D.J.

Your responses to our survey
United Way of Snohomish County's Loyal ContributorsThank you for being a
United Way Loyal
Contributor! The response
to our survey from 392
long-time donors shows exactly why we appreciate you. So do the thousands
of people you help through your gift to United Way. Here are a few things we learned about United Way Loyal Contributors:

  • Our longest-giving donor started giving to United Way in 1954.
  • Most Loyal Contributors are between 50 and 59 years old. Our youngest Loyal Contributor is under the age of 30.
  • It was close, but you care about successful kids, healthy communities and financially stable families in that order.
  • Overwhelmingly, most people said they are Loyal Contributors is because they want to "give back to the community" and "they trust United Way" to do that well.
  • A number of you also expressed an interest in volunteering, visiting a United Way program and attending an event. We have opportunities to do all -read on!
"I visited a children's daycare program many years ago. Young, at-risk moms were able to leave their children in a safe place because of the funding through United Way."

See the difference your gift makes

United Way's Free Tax PreparationUnited Way is running four free income tax preparation sites to help working, low-income families get back money that they have earned, save on expensive fees and loans and start saving. Taxes are prepared by certified volunteers. Last year, volunteers did 1,274 returns for $2.1 million in refunds for families who made, on average, $22,000.
We are offering you two opportunities to visit a tax site, meet our great volunteers and hear from someone who has been helped through this program! The tour dates are as follows (and will include light refreshments):

  • Tuesday, Feb. 23, 4:30 - 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Each will be at our tax site at Children's Village which is located on 14 E Casino Road. If you are interested in either tour, please contact Laura at 425.374.5554 or by email at laura.pentz@uwsc.org.

A little more about one of our Vision Councils...

United Way of Snohomish County's partnership with 2-1-1Volunteer Vision Councils are integral to the work of United Way of Snohomish County. Each council has a different "vision" for our community specific to its area: kids, families and community.

Dedicated Vision Council volunteers study our community and work to
find long-term solutions to achieve our vision of
successful kids, financially stable families and healthy communities. They allocate and oversee grants to nonprofit programs, look for innovative initiatives to address problems, help fundraise and form new partnerships - all with the goal of improving people's lives.

The Community Matters Vision Council focuses on ensuring all residents are connected, engaged and supported. They look at community-wide issues, such as transportation and volunteer programs. Some of the programs they fund include the 2-1-1 information and referral phone line, family support centers and Retired Senior Volunteer Programs. Twenty-three percent of United Way funding benefits the entire community through the Community Matters Vision Council.

"I just love United Way, as it helps so many people in so many different ways."
