Greetings!
Captain Jason Dahl, pilot of United Flight 93 on 9/11/2001, was an outstanding member of our community and everyday hero to all who knew him. We at FRBC can think of no better way to honor and remember the 9/11 heroes and patriots than to encourage our young people today in a very positive way.
The Jason Dahl Heartland Hero program asks the students of Bradford, Stoney Creek, and Mortensen Elementary schools the following:
Do you have someone in YOUR life who is a HERO? Maybe that person has actually saved a life, or maybe he or she is a hero because of the life they lead or the example they set for you EVERY DAY. Tell us about someone you know who, through an act of kindness, courage, or unselfishness, has made a positive impact on your life.
Students in grades 5 are invited to write about their own "Heartland Hero". A selection committee of teachers and principals from each school will choose three winners and each one will receive recognition and cash awards provided by funds raised by the Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund. The rewards are to be dedicated to their future education.
The cash awards will be presented at the winner's schools in October 2012.
Essay award winners, along with their parents/guardians and their heroes, will be invited to attend each school's Awards Ceremony.
You can be a hero as well by treating yourself to fine dining at one of these great local establishments.A generous portion of your purchase will support the hugely positive experience provided to the entire 5th grade class of 3 schools in our immediate area.
We love it so much that if you bring us your receipt from on of these restaurants, proving your patronage on the day and time listed for Heartland Hero support...
WE WILL GIVE YOU 20% OFF ANY SEED PURCHASE IN THE STORE!
From all of us at Front Range Birding,
Have a great day and please honor our 9/11 heroes this Patriot Day
Sincerely,
Tom, Diane, Shannon, Dave, Jennifer, Megan, Chuck, and Sara
