Greetings!
Join us with the ASGD the first Sunday of each month as we WALK THE WETLANDS of Chatfield State Park. This very popular walk always is full of surprises.
Sunday, August 5, 2012, 8:00 am- Noon
LEADERS: Hugh & Urling Kingery (303-814-2723) and other Master Birders
Pre-registration is NOT required. Meet in the parking lot at the Audubon Center at Chatfield. The Audubon Center is located on Waterton Road, 4.4 miles south of C-470 and Wadsworth.
Also the last Saturday of each month, July 28, and August 25, join with Master Birder Joey Kellner in Chatfield State Park.
Joey Kellner began birding as a teenager (many years ago) and has served as president of the Denver Field Ornithologists (DFO), is a voting member of the Colorado Field Ornithologists' Colorado Bird Records Committee and is a member of the American Birding Association. He is the Compiler of the Denver Christmas Bird Count and has run several Breeding Bird Survey routes for the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and participates in the Colorado Bird Atlas project. Over the years Joey has birded North America from Florida's Keys to Alaska's Attu Island. Joey often leads trips for the DFO and the Denver Audubon Society. Joey is a naturalist, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm of not only birds, but reptiles, amphibians, mammals, butterflies, etc. Joey has been leading monthly birdwalks at Chatfield State Park for over 13 years.
Joey's birdwalks are scheduled for 4 hours, but participants are welcome to leave whenever they need to. We will look for birds in a number of locations inside the park. We carpool to some locations and may take short or long (2+ hour) walks on flat and some hilly terrain. Meet inside Chatfield State Park at the Platte River parking lot (just east of Kingfisher Bridge). Start times vary between winter and summer. November to March times are 8am-12pm, April to October times are 7am-11am. No reservations necessary, just show up! Bring binoculars and scope if you have. Please no pets or small children.
Please call 303-979-2473 and let us know if you would like to attend a walk. It will help give us an idea of how many to expect. These walks are free and support the community.
From all of us at Front Range Birding,
Have a great Summer Bird Walk
Sincerely,
Tom, Diane, Shannon, Dave, Jennifer, Megan, Chuck, and Sara
