Alumni emails & notes to the Editor

"Young Canadians pay Vimy Ridge tribute" received from Dave (C'61) & Brenda Milligan. Their youngest daughter, Stephanie (C'06) is currently a tour guide at the Vimy Memorial in France where the proud parents recently had the opportunity to travel. Dave tells me "the Vimy experience" is overwhelming. I found the interview very inspiring .

Note: Stephanie was a recipient of an Alumni Association Bursary in 2006

Have just been reading the NOVEMBER issue of the CCHS Alumni Connection - very interesting.  I decided this time to look up the photos of our Class of 52 and found that the picture  taken at the 2005 reunion was missing the name of the fellow on the far right of the photo.  That is Brian Perry and  why I  remember is because Brian and I were neighbors all through school and we had a good catch up conversation while we were waiting for the picture to be taken. Then  soon after I heard that Brian had passed away. Was glad I  met him and his wife at that reunion.
Thought you could use his name for the picture .-  Shirley Burnett C'52

"Those photos of oldies, many of whom I know, in the email newsletter I received today, convinced me to join."  Ted Netten - St. Lambert High Class of 1947

Roberta Joyal died in Idaho on Thursday, November 18th, 2010.
She attended Preville School but her family  (US Air Force) were transferred  just before she was scheduled to go to CCHS.  Both her brothers, Ken and Ron Joyal, were at CCHS and a lot of us knew her.  -Ari Dale C'64

CCHS Alumni Home Exchange
There has been insufficient response to Sheila Kerr's  C'53 idea of an alumni home  exchange. The work involved in setting this up, not to mention the cost, is prohibitive with the relatively small number of interested alumni.

If you are interested in pursuing home exchanges we suggest you visit homeexchange.com

Reunion  2010 DVD has been shipped

I happy to report all DVD orders were mailed Tuesday, November 23  While preparing the final DVD's, I experienced some problems with writing errors during the burning process, which required some techhelp from Apple to resolve this issue.

I am also pleased to report that all technical issues have been resolved. The DVD will play with good clarity on 50 inch plasma TV's hooked up to DVD players, as well as the new iPad and all computer laptops.

As a bonus, for Mac and PC computer users, there is a separate file on the DVD marked "Slideshow" which will present high resolution JPEG srgb images in a 1024 x 768 XGA format for best colour, sharpness and viewing.

All DVD's have been thoroughly tested on a Pioneer Elite multi-format DVD player, an Apple MacBook Pro Laptop, and a brand new HP Laptop loaded with Windows 7. For PC users, the slide show will easily play in the Windows Media Player. For Mac users, the show can be viewed with iDvd or Quicktime.

The five themed galleries titled Class Photos, Gala Dinner & Farewell BBQ, Sports, Variety Show and Memories feature some 257 images, which were prepared with the latest technology using Roxio's Toast Titanium 10 burning software, the best in its class.

Additionally, there is a sixth slide show titled "My Hometown," synchronized to the music of Bruce Springteen's famous song. Prepared with Fotomagico Pro - its an enhanced version of the presentation seen live at the Galla Dinner, featuring some new images from Reunion 2010.

I would like to thank all the Alumni members for their enduring patience while I worked out the technical issues to produce a high quality DVD that could be played on several platforms including the iPad, this while looking after my aging parents who live nearby and are succumbing to debilitating diseases, plus my own recent health issues.

I am very satisfied with the results, and I hope the Alumni members will be pleased with the Commemorative DVD too. Its not a Hollywood quality production, but its not too far off the mark. - Fred Hore (Official Reunion Photographer)

Class photos, event photos, and reunion DVD's are still available for ordering . "Click here" for Reunion 2010 photo gallery, price list, order form, and payment options.
