Members Only Edition
Editorial by Angus Cross
Angus JulySummer is a terrible time to be contacting alumni. This summer in particular as we just finished having the reunion in May. People are away at cottages, or on holiday, and responding to emails is not very high on the priority list. Unfortunately for the alumni association right now is somewhat critical. At present we are faced with close to 60 people whose membership has either just lapsed or is about to end. Losing that many members would have some repercussions, not to mention the disappointment of the people who bring you this newsletter each month. Despite this negative aspect we are encouraged by the large number who have recently joined the association.

If you have an idea for a monthly column for the newsletter, and would like to test your communication and writing skills,  we would certainly like to hear from you.

Please send your comments concerning any subject that's raised by this newsletter to  Angus  via email or post in the Alumni Forum

Class of 1957 in Beaconsfield

A group of 1957 Classmates met recently (pretty well become an annual event) at a garden party by Barbara Richards, Pointe Claire, QC. A few of the larger group, seen here are: Patricia Carnie, Ste. Genevieve, QC., Diane Taylor, Port St. Lucie, FL., Catherine Glen, North York, ON., Peggy Cooke, Lachine, QC. and Beverley Harris, Calgary, AB.

We wish to encourage more photo submissions from all alumni who get together with their former schoolmates.

Drac and Tracey
At grad time several students would hold house parties.

In 1981 a party was held at the Liutec's (David was the grad student, and his father who was a CCHS teacher) hosted an "All Night" affair.

Here is Mr. Liutec (nick-named Drac, short for "Dracula ") seen here with one of the lovely female grads Tracey Del Vecchio who attended.

Reunion  2010 Recap
The saga of the Class of 1975 began back in February of 2007.  An anonymous benefactor wanted to ensure that as many classmates as possible would attend the Reunion in 2010. Towards that end, this generous person paid the membership fees for a 3 year period for 25 fellow alumni. Most of these people did indeed attend the reunion. Hopefully class members will keep the torch burning and not only renew their membership but also find missing classmates.

REMEMBERING AND SHARING

Barely 3-months ago we were strolling the streets of St. Lambert, testing the fare in Victoria Ave. diners, pretending to own and drive swanky autos on exhibit, shaking hands and hugging friends in the hallways of our former CCHS.

It seemed like every second person we met  was using a camera to record these great times and events, and now to perpetuate those wonderful feelings that were rejuvenated, sharing these photos could bring us all back to Reunion 2010, and earlier memories.

Alumni can very easily upload their own favorite photos right here:

Alumni Comments

Members Talking

The above photo was included in a recent mass email to non-members of the alumni association, along with the wording

" Your classmates are having a conversation about you online. Isn't it time for you to join in?"

David Cyr C'62 from Verdun, QC replied:

"The only conversations I have heard related to the CCHS alumni association are about your opportunistic tactics to make money on the backs of CCHS alumni!
An association like this should be free, like most other associations on the Internet.
Now you are appealing to people's paranoia.  Unbelievable Angus!!! "

Alumni Obituaries

I have just had an email from Anne (Hodge) Parsons notifying me of the death of our classmate (C'49), Iris (Hay) Struthers.  Iris died at her home in Britain on May 31st of a stroke.

According to Anne she had two sons, a daughter and several grandchildren. That is all the information I have but Anne asked me to pass it on to the Alumni Association.
