Editorial - Angus Cross

Angus July Five years ago, just following Reunion 2005, the reunion committee decided to form an alumni association. The goal of the CCHS & CA Alumni Association was to foster long-term relationships with its alumni through its various programs and activities. Its mission is to enable alumni, students, staff, and friends of CCHS/CA to maintain their contact with the school and each other for their shared benefit and the vital support and development of the school.

The association has just finished hosting a very successful Reunion 2010 and now begins the difficult task of maintaining the interest and support of the alumni. Job #1 for our Newsletter and chamblycounty.com website is to find the missing, and those we have lost contact with, and encourage them to participate as members.

Today the association is made up of around 600 former students and staff.  If your membership has recently expired, or when it does come up for renewal, please
continue to
support the association

Please send your comments concerning any subject that's raised by this newsletter to  Angus  via email or post in the Alumni Forum.

Two Golfers in Scotland

Don Morrison (C-'53) has for many years organized a golf trip for "a few friends". This photo is from his Seventeenth Annual "Once-in-a-Lifetime" golf trip, which consisted of 22 players for two weeks in Scotland, and another 26 for a further week in Ireland. Seen here with Don is fellow C.C.H.S. alumnus Don Alexander (C-'55) both having just played Scotland's world famous Home of Golf, St. Andrews Links.

Here's a 'composite' of 6 "belles" from the Class of 1958 grads that attended Reunion 2010. They have been friends for over 50 years and continue to stay in touch with each other.

Reunion  2010 Recap
Following the reunion a survey was sent out to all alumni. We had 415 alumni who responded. Of these 46.7% attended the reunion while the balance of 53.3% did not attend.

Where did the attendees come from?

Quebec 40%, Ontario 37%, USA 7%, British Columbia 5%, Alberta 5%, Nova Scotia 4%, other Canadian Provinces 1%, other countries 1%

What was the level of satisfaction for those that attended the reunion?

Very Satisfied 66%,  Somewhat Satisfied 29%, Somewhat Dissatisfied 5%

On average those that attended, only the Friday evening Meet & Greet, were less satisfied than those that came for the Reunion Weekend.

What were the main reasons people did not attend Reunion 2010?
  1. Prior committments
  2. Heard their classmates would not be there
  3. Illness or medical condition
  4. Cost of travel and accomodation

The Alumni Association's Reunion Committee met on Tuesday, June 7th and spent over 2 hours on a total review of all the events. The survey results were carefully examined and will provide some guidance for any further reunions.

Alumni Comments

I must have inadvertently deleted the email containing the new password to the CCHS site. With much humility I come crawling to the master, begging that he show me mercy and allow me access to the Holy Shrine of the Alumni of Chambly County High School.

The Reunion was fantastic. We were discussing the evolution from the first two reunions. Each event from 1995 to the present was fantastic in its own way. Each reunion was special for different reasons. A lot of us were at all three and all of us inevitably went to High School together. This one was the best yet.

I can not begin to imagine how much effort and time were spent on this. At each of the events we were effortlessly ushered into a time warp and a celebration of life. Not many High Schools can boast as many proud participants as we can. We still enjoy each other's company and relish the moments that we can share together. All of that joy and happiness that we take away with us is directly traceable to the incredible efforts of you and your co-organisers. it all looks so flawlessly easy when we show up and everything is done and waiting for us. No one bothers to consider how much sacrifice and toil went into making those three days happen.

if there is such a thing as Reunion Angels, Chambly County must have an entire Squad of them. Once again; Perfection was attained and we are all extremely grateful for having those years that we spent together in High School so immaculately preserved and celebrated once again. Congratulations to you all. So; When's the next one?

Daniel Thompson C'79 resigned from the Board of Directors, of the alumni association, on June 6/10

I think you guys and girls have done a great job organizing and executing this reunion. Kudos to everyone involved. I apologize that I was not able to be more involved but my time is indeed severely constrained these days. I was happy to get some free time to attend a few of the reunion events and enjoyed myself greatly.

Best of luck in future endeavors.

Daniel Thompson

There are now 3 positions (2 Directors at large, and a Director to represent Ontario) vacant on the board.  If you would like to be considered for nomination to the board please contact  Harvey Carter , Secretary.
