This Christmas my wife and I visited her family in Israel. On the way back we spent three glorious days with Peter Hibbs, his wonderful wife Anita and their lovely daughter Victoria.
We became instant friends when I started at Chambly in 1970. Peter taught mathematics at CCHS from 1969 until 1974 when they moved back to Cheltenham, England (about 2 hours west of London). Peter taught math until 1997, when he retired from the business of teaching kids. With nothing much to do other than math tutoring, he decided that he should keep busy and became a mailman. Satisfied with his career change (letters don't answer back), he continued as a mailman until his second retirement April 2009. Peter will always be remembered as an excellent math teacher and one who used to have "unusual punishments" for his students who didn't quite appreciate his British sense of discipline. J
I spent our time together trying to convince him to come to the Reunion in May, but I won't hold my breath. - Bernie Praw (former teacher and Principal at CCHS) |
