This issue of Alumni Connection is being sent out to not only our association members but to all alumni.

Our Class Contacts have been hard at work attempting to find missing classmates. With only 6 months to go until Reunion 2010 we are desperately trying to get the word out to all.

Please check your individual class lists
( Temporary Access to Class Lists for non-association members is   User ID: class   Password: contact )
and  use the  Forward email to a classmate  link, which is found at the bottom left side of this email, if you spot a lost contact or missing individual from your class. Also please check the Missing List for any of your relatives that attended CCHS or Chambly Academy.
You don't have to be concerned about the privacy of someone you forward this email to because everyone has the opportunity to OPT OUT and not receive any future emails from the association by using Instant Removal with Safe Unsubscribe which is also located at the bottom of this email.
  • haven't registered for the reunion as yet
  • planning on buying single event tickets

Please let me know that you "Plan to Attend" so I can tell your classmates you will be there.

Only in St. Lambert eh!
Here are my recollections about admission to the Astor and Victoria movie theatres. When 78 children were killed in a fire in the Laurier Palace cinema in
Montreal in 1927 the provincial government reacted by making it illegal for children  under 16 to attend movies in Quebec unless they were accompanied by an adult.

In St. Lambert you could get into movies at a much younger age if you
could produce proof you were 16.  Most of us, as students, had passes so we could
obtain tickets for the Montreal and Southern Counties Streetcars at a discount. These passes were printed on porous paper and our names and ages were typed in by the school  secretary.

We quickly learned that an eraser, when used carefully, could remove ages.  Then you merely typed in 16. I had a typewriter at home and did this service for a number of friends. It didn't have to be perfect, but it did the trick.  I think the folks taking tickets were onto us, but they could always maintain, if asked, that we'd provided them proof of age.

My folks told me that the manager of the Astor was fined annually for violating this law. However, his revenue from underage kids more than compensated for this inconvenience.

Coming to Reunion 2010, here's part of what you will see and hear.

VARIETY SHOW - Saturday afternoon, May 22, 2010

"A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants"

We have the songs, we may have a dance (ok a pole dance), and we're working on the seltzer down your pants.

The songs are golden oldies sung by Golden Oldies

We have the Hear and Now, Gary Millward C'66 and the Ancients, Barbara Hill C'74, John Sader C'78, and the singers keep signing up.

So far the only dance we have, rumours have it, is a pole dance by one of the Members of the Board of Directors.

Ali HassanThe comedy will be spearheaded by Ali Hassan who is a professional comedian and will work with other grads, the Alumni Board of Directors and Jana Hancinsky C'80 to ensure that there will be a little seltzer down your pants.

BUT WE NEED MORE

So please don't be shy and relive your Chambly Days or I will have to tell you the same jokes that I used in your classes.

Bernie Praw

When you register for the reunion it will be indicated on your class page so your classmates will know you will be there.

Class Contacts
During the month of October there has been a major effort to update association data for alumni from the 80's. Here is part of an email sent out by Angus Cross - Class Contacts Co-ordinator:

While I have enjoyed reasonable success among those that graduated from CCHS in the 50's, 60's, and 70's in enlisting their support and assistance, I can not say the same for later years. I know you all are busy with your families and careers but all I ask is a few moments of your time to review the attached list of your classmates. If you can add anything at all to the accuracy, or know the coordinates of some of the missing, or help in anyway, it would be most appreciated.

The response was excellent. The effort will done again in early December for all classes without a Class Contact

Terri Laliberte C'83 has volunteered to act as Class Contact for 1983

Class Contacts are still needed for the following years:
1963, 1966,1967, 1968 1974, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999: and Chambly Academy 2000 to  2009:

Ed Wood, Class of 1960

Most of us air force kids who had fathers stationed at Air Defense Command, St. Hubert, Quebec back around 1958-60 had a number of options for our secondary schooling. We were privileged to get an education. Many of us took our schooling on the airbase for school grades up to the end of Grade Nine. Thereafter we had to go to either CCHS in St. Lambert or to Montreal High to complete our Matriculation.

ELDER, David Campbell - Suddenly at Scarborough Centenary Hospital on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in his 67th year. Predeceased by his parents James and Muriel. Sadly missed by his close companion Maureen, and her children Jason and Glenn (Helen), and grandson Robbie. Lovingly remembered by his brother Barry and his wife Deborah, and sister Ruth and her husband Sydney Jones. David sadly leaves behind his uncle Stan and his family. Remembered always by his nieces and nephews Sarah, Matthew, Rachel, Gillian, Stephen and Laura. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
