Invitations have now been sent out via email inviting all alumni to attend Reunion 2010 next May 21st. to 23rd. Many people have already responded by registering and purchasing All Event Passports.

Questions concerning local transportation and hotel accommodations are being answered in the Alumni Forum as they arise.

Joanne and I are off to California and Mexican Riviera on October 29th. We do plan some side trips to San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Las Vegas during our month away. If anyone wants to meet up for lunch or whatever our schedule is pretty open after November 9th. We are using my son's home in Fontana as a base of operations.

Warren and I are working on getting the November issue ready early, so we can set it on remote control, to be sent out in early November.

Ray Banham

Ray (C-'56) and Kaye (C-'57)  Banham live in St. Lambert and have already committed to staying away from their country cottage to attend Reunion 2010 next May. Ray is seen here with their 3-year old grandson Christopher inspecting a carp, which will go back into the lake for Chris to catch on another day.
(Individual and family photos are most welcome for both the monthly Newsletter, and to be added to the Alumni Photo Galleries).

At the moment we are looking for a photo circa 1958 or 1959 of  the RCAF blue bus (Western Flyer, 50 passenger) like the one that would bring students from St. Hubert Air Base to CCHS. We need this for an upcoming Flashback article.

Who's Who

I have just finished reading the September's Newsletter. You wrote a wonderful memorial of Barbara's life and included her in the Who's Who Directory.
Duncan and I are very appreciative of the honour you have bestowed on my sister and his mother. Thank you ever so much.  -  Phyllis Mackie C'38

Are you coming to Reunion 2010, people want to know ?
  Larry's car

Alumni who might be interested in driving their antique cars to Reunion 2010 are asked to contact Larry LlewellynThe tentative plan would be to meet somewhere on the Friday afternoon and  proceed on the designated route for the Alumni Parade along Green Street to the school. If  we get 20~30 cars this would be a good kick-start and have the community involved.

Of course I would be the lead car 1977 TR7.. just joking...

When you register for the reunion it will be indicated on your class page so your classmates will know you are going.

Reunion 2010 updates
  •  All members have now been sent two invitations to the reunion. Non-members of the association have also been invited with invitations that went out in late September. All of these invitations were for Passport to All Events.  Individual event tickets will not be offered until early January 2010.

Flashback article
Pine Avenue  Carolyn MacDonald
by
Carolyn MacDonald (Vance), Class of 1958

There is the wise proverb that says," It takes a village to raise a child".

That African saying could well have been penned by St. Lambert residents, and more specifically by those who lived on Pine Avenue, between Green and L'Esperance Streets - My "Village" , during the years of 1945 to '55.

How secure we felt! Our parents appreciated that should one of us go astray (during a brief moment when mother's watchful eye may have looked elsewhere) that another mother would step in, and give the needful, warning word! There was no resentment, or feeling of intrusion. Rather an unwritten agreement prevailed, that "neighbours looked out for each other."

 MY LIVING WILL

Last night, my wife and I were sitting in the living room and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.'

She got up, unplugged the Computer, and threw out my scotch.
