Over the last few editions there have been several photos of kindergarten or Grade 1 kids. Kind of made me nostalgic for when I was 5 years of age.

Some of the Responses to the June Editorial
- People live very busy lives these days
- Anyone in business gets inundated with emails.
- Personally, I get lazy, you have sent me a number of reminders that I'm late in submitting my membership dues and I have not submitted them yet. Yet I want to and will continue to be a member!!!
- I'm surprised that you find the 'younger 'grads protect their personal info [ secretive] especially when you see what people post on YouTube or Face book.
- I share your newsletter with a number of folks to create their interest for membership but they all are reluctant to join. Yet they all enjoy the info!! Norm Thomas C'66
Editor's Note: Norm still hasn't paid his membership fees and will not be receiving this month's newsletter. To bad as I made it easier for him to share this edition by adding forward email at the bottom of this page. I ask tall members to you use only when you think there is a chance of gaining a new member.
Great editorial and I am hooked. Will respond shortly to your list of questions.
Leslie Griffith in Saguache, Colorado, Class of 1963.
As someone who has poured their heart and soul into the Alumni resurrection and maintenance I can understand your frustration. Your comments are germane and I don't have any brilliant solutions. I believe life for many is more complicated not for those of us that are retired but certainly for those still working ,raising families, and certainly with the concerns of the economy over the last few years. Although I am thankful every day for the success of my sons and the fact that as a senior I don't have the burden of children coming back to live with parents , daughters having divorces with small children and the financial burdens placed on parents, etc. This today is a major problem, the nuclear family as we know it is passé. In many cases both family members are working so that the younger people do not have the time to worry about their Alumni, whether it is high school or college. It would be interesting to note how many of the Alumni have been divorced, I bet it would be the middle generation not the old folks like us that have stable relationships? The fractionation of the family takes over as priority. You asked for a response, my comments do not solve the problem but I do believe therein lies some of the answer for your query. I still have not sent my picture , there is an example of priorities. You indicted that Grant Sheltus has his picture but was going to send his bio, he has not done that , there is another example . Don't get frustrated you do a hell of a job, life has just changed. Trevor Lloyd - C'51
I think some people like me, simply do not know how to furnish information and photographs on this web site! How about some "How To`s"
Janice A. (Caron) Watt Class of `53
Editor's Note: Photos are hard to do and even harder to teach "how to". I suggest you either find a family member, or friend to assist you. Or send your photos via snailmail to Warren Mackenzie. Warren will enhance and resize your photos and return them to you if asked.
I have no answers for your list of questions - just one comment - have a look at the "smiles" on the faces of the May picture - out of an entire class, 2 very grim smiles! So maybe everyone's experience at CCHS and the Academy wasn't as great as ours. I always look forward to reading and looking at the pictures each month and think you guys do a terrific job! Jo-Anne Hanophy C'58
General responses
My desktop calendar thought for the day: "Appreciation is like salt--a little goes a long way to bring out the best in us." ( see Matthew 12:35 ) So....Thank you for the latest Alumni Connection and the great job you do. I especially appreciated the article last month on Jean Wrigley, a former classmate....so interesting and inspiring!

Another Great Newsletter. Bravo for all your hard work producing it. Thanks too for including the story about our trip west to Alberta in May. I will be making a Donation to the Garden Project hopefully in July or August. - Peter Payan C'59
Once again I must compliment you, Warren, and Harvey and whoever else works so hard at producing the newsletter. It is such a delight to read it each month and recognize people from our past. Ross and I go back so far and lately there have been lots of old-timers, so it is fun for us to remember them and events involving all of us. We will certainly be at the reunion, God willing. I was disappointed at the last one that there were very few of my classmates there, but I guess it is not surprising, considering my advanced age! ! Anyway we plan to attend and have fun with whoever shows up. Dale Morrison Wallace (class of '51)
"The CCHS site is absolutely the best. I have contacted old classmates with both sites. Each site has their own assets. I feel that Face Book is a great way to keep up with current trends and that the CCHS site is like opening the portal to our most cherished memories. They co-exist ." Stephen Campbell C'72 Editor's Note: Please post your comments to the Alumni Forum. That way we can all see your comments within minutes of you making them rather than a month later. Quick Link |

HOLMES, Brian A. CCHS Class of 1970
Brian passed away suddenly in Argentina while on a business trip on May 23rd. He apparently had a severe lung infection and pneumonia, which resulted in a heart attack. We had his funeral on June 6th. Unfortunately, his Mom was devastated by his death and she passed away last week on June 25th. Her funeral is being held on Friday, July 3rd. Please also let Will Arnold know, since Brian has been corresponding with him about the reunion. email from Bev Holmes, Brian's wife.
FOSTER, Martha CCHS Class of 1975
I just had news that Martha Foster (class of 1975) passed away on Wednesday, June 17 after a 3 month battle with breast cancer. Martha is survived by her brother, Martin; her Mother, Carol; and her dog, Marlboro. Martha was a grad of CCHS but had been living in the Toronto area since 1990.
Martha will be remembered as a sweet person who had no enemies. Martha had worked for the City of Brampton but will be remembered for her tireless hours volunteering for The Toronto Second Harvest and the Toronto Humane Society.
Martha was in her 50th year. We will miss her smile the most!

Editor's Note: Martha was a strong supporter of our alumni association and had acted as Class Contact in 2007 - 2008 |

PREVENTING ONLINE IDENTITY THEFT |
Criminals used to steal personal details from dumpsters but now they're much more sophisticated. Today's methods include chat rooms, personal networking sites, email scams and hacking. Here are some ways to protect your financial reputation:
Be sure to create different passwords for each site you use.
Create passwords that contain a combination of letters, numbers and symbols.
Update your anti-virus program to deter Trojan horses from infecting your computer.
Make sure to erase your hard drive before getting rid of your old computer.
Beware of phishing schemes which direct victims to legitimate looking sites that ask for personal info.
https: and padlock icons no longer mean a site's secure as even these are now being forged.
Insurance companies now provide "Identity Theft Insurance". There are mixed opinions on the value of this service so do your research. If you're aware of online criminal methods and vigilantly defend yourself, you'll be in a much better position to defend your good name. It takes a great deal of time and frustration to clear up the mess caused by criminals who specialize in stealing your identity so prevention and common sense are key.
