November 1, 2009 Rector's Reflection

 Next Sunday (Nov 8):
            8:30 Eucharist
            9:15 Sunday School
10:00 Eucharist with Music  (Remembering our Veterans)

October flew by . . . after the Lobster Fest we enjoyed our annual St. Francis of Assisi Pet Blessing.   (We held the pet blessing in the parish hall, because it was soooo cold and wet.)  The pet blessing went surprisingly well indoors.  We had lots of dogs, and one chicken.  Was it my imagination, or did the dogs all seem to calm down during the homily?   Anyway, it was fun and meaningful.  We offered a special prayer for David & Cathy Etheridge, local veterinarians who are members of St. Ann's.
  • We managed to replace two "red-tagged" furnaces before the cold weather set in.
  • On Oct 23-24 many parishioners participated in our Parish Clean-up projects.
  • The book group met on Oct 18th.
  • Five young people have begun their Confirmation Class studies, lead by Ben Phillips.
  • Morning Prayer began in October, and is being held each Friday morning at 9:30am until further notice.  Everyone is invited.
  • Patrice & Dinah represented St. Ann's in the WACM "Hunger Walk/Run"
  • We've been gathering coats, gloves, boots, etc . . . for distribution throughout the coming cold months.
Our 8:30am time for the early service on Sundays is fairly popular, with 6-15 people present for that liturgy each Sunday in October.  The choir is in glorious form each Sunday at the 10:00am Eucharist.  Attendance at the 10:00am liturgy was around 50-65 each Sunday in October.
By the way, I visited with Shirley Heisler recently -- she has moved, and is missing her St. Ann's friends.  Just send me a  note if you'd like Shirley's phone number and address.
Please, scroll down the announcements and articles below - you don't want to miss anything!
Thank you.  And, thank you for making St. Ann's the community of faith and fun that it is.
God Bless You!
Rev. Pat Conley
