August 2, 2009 Rector's Reflection

Another inspiring morning at St. Ann's today.

During the month of August we are using a variety of alternative liturgical texts.  Elements of our August liturgies are taken from "Enriching Our Worship," from "A New Zealand Prayer Book," from the Church of England's "Common Worship," and from the "Scottish Prayer Book."

Here are a few lines from the Lord's Prayer, New Zealand Prayer book:

With the bread we need for today, feed us.
In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.
In times of temptation and test, strengthen us.
From trials too great to endure, spare us.
From the grip of all that is evil, free us.

For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,
now and for ever. Amen.

If you were present - thank you for contributing to the Liturgy's meaning.  If you were not present -- be safe in your travels, be rested in your activities, be well in body and spirit, and be at St. Ann's when next you are able.

Remember, too, if you are able to assist with outdoor set-up of the Parish Picnic Brunch next Sunday, the set-up activities will begin at 8:00am.

Please, scroll down the announcements and articles below - you don't want to miss anything!  Thank you.

God Bless You!

Cole with Mama Amy Prayer Matters!
The little boy in this photo, Cole, has been on our St. Ann's prayer list for a long time now.  I recently asked Kate Halma how little Cole is doing, and here is her reply:
. . . "about sweet Cole. . .  I believe he needs to remain on our prayer list. While his situation is stable, they still struggle with his condition every day, and it changes as he develops. Cole was born without the ability for his brain to "tell" his body to keep breathing when he sleeps. He has a permanent tracheotomy and is connected to "breathing machines" when the little guy sleeps. I can only hope that the options his family continues to investigate offer more comfort soon. It's a delicate situation. Continued prayer from the mighty Episcopalians would be greatly appreciated!"

. . . so, we'll certainly keep praying for Cole! -- Rev. Pat Conley
