Dear (Contact First Name)
We lost another family member yesterday January 24, 2010: Harry William House, Jr. after a protracted battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 73.
Born in Brooklyn, NY he raised my brother Harry and I in Northeast Philadelphia. He worked for Fuel Engineering Co of New York, sampling coal for export and was involved in air sampling to improve the environment, even years before the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
He was the family professor of economics, teaching us the difference between "price" and "value;" and doing the right thing--even when it hurts in the pocketbook.
He is survived by his wife Barbara House of Oreland, PA, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Bob Chadwick, nephew and niece, Craig and Patty Chadwick, my brother Harry William House III and I, plus five grandchildren.
On a lighter note, we thought he resembled Jack Nicholson. The biting sense of humor was certainly there.
Harry House Jr
