 Originally from Michigan, Abbie currently lives in Maryland and works as an ER Nurse.
She has a love for food, cooking, running, biking, and basically anything dealing with health and nutrition. She has run multiple marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2005 and 2006, and recently got into ultra trail running. In September 2008 (after a lot of training), she completed LOTOJA - a 206 mile bike race from Logan, UT to Jackson Hole, WY!
"I've had the chance to try all three of the flavors, and let me tell you, these are addicting! ... The texture of the almonds was very crunchy ... I usually am not a fan of orange flavoring, but this didn't have the artificial taste like so many orange-flavored products have. I really like the flavor and crunch!"

Perfect for Purim!
Awesome Almonds® are a real treat! And kosher too!!
 Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman's plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Book of Esther.
On Purim we emphasize the importance of friendship and community by sending gifts of food, mishloach manot, to friends. Families often prepare food baskets full of nuts, sweets, snacks, wine and pastries to deliver to friends, neighbors, and relatives.
Other observances also include the public recitation of the Book of Esther, giving gifts of money to the poor, wearing of masks and costumes and eating a sumptuous meal accompanied by plentiful drink in the closing hours of the festival.

Awesome Almonds® in the News
A recent article about "Awesome Almonds® and the Mediterranean diet
 When Ken Lankin was growing up in the 1960s, he would watch the other kids eating the typical peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on white bread and sugary desserts with envy.
His mother, Paula, made sandwiches on brown wheat bread and gave fruit to him and his brother.
Yet today, Lankin gives her credit for being ahead of her time in the nutrition department.
A physician who once worked at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and the William W. Backus Hospital, Lankin created his own healthy product, Awesome Almonds, while living in Groton.
Because Lankin is also in the Navy and knew he would have to move, he organized the business as a Web site. The company is still incorporated in Connecticut, said Lankin, who is a Connecticut College graduate and currently deployed in Afghanistan as a physician mentor and humanitarian assistance liaison.
