Mayor Christenson's Blog
Dear Malden Residents,
We are now open for business! The City Council passed my proposed budget four days before the new fiscal year began on July 1. The budget grew 1 percent outside of the School Department and it contains restructuring, consolidation, and priorities, including a heavy emphasis on our youth. Best of all, we did not use any of our reserves which today stand at $5.3M. To view the budget, please click here. I would like to thank everyone involved in helping us through the annual budget process in particular City Controller Charles Ranaghan, Human Resources Director Eleanor Cushing, Online Services and Communications Director Ron Cochran, and Human Resources Generalist Melissa Smith.

Our trucks are "Go Fish" aka Brother Trucker who has anchored the bunch followed by Sri-Lankan food by the folks at S & S Market Biryani Park and last but not least, deserts by Cupcake City. Local Malden Firefighter Saves a Life
Mayor Gary Christenson and Fire Chief Michael Murphy honored Malden Firefighter Brian Parow for his heroic lifesaving efforts of an individual while off duty. On June 12th, Brian was at his daughter's college graduation at the Dorchester Yacht Club when a gentleman collapsed in cardiac arrest. Brian immediately began resuscitation efforts by performing CPR and utilizing the Club's defibrillator until EMT's responded. The man was breathing on his own by the time EMT's arrived thanks to Brian Parow.
"There is no doubt that the quick action of Brian Parow saved a man's life," said Mayor Christenson. "Because of Brian, a husband and father is at home with his family." Mayor Christenson presented Brian with a citation from the City and designated him Honorary Chairman of the Department Head meeting.
