Please join us tomorrow, Tuesday, June 19, for this month's member meeting:  DOL Resources to Help Employers Connect with and Hire Qualified Vets.
 
 

This program has been approved for 2.0 HRCI Credits and may qualify for 2.0 CLE credits.  

 

Michael Espinosa, DOL/Arizona Director for Veterans' Employment and Training will lead the discussion with our special panelists Jackie Zepp from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Lawrence "Butch" Wise with Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

 

The discussion will include the shared services that may be provided by the VR&E VetSuccess Program, including: 

  • Comprehensive rehabilitation evaluation to determine abilities, skills, and interests for employment
  • Vocational counseling and rehabilitation planning for employment services
  • Employment Services such as job-training, job seeking skills, resume development, and other work readiness assistance
  • Assistance finding and keeping a job including the use of special employer incentives and job accommodations
  • On the Job Training (OJT), apprenticeships, and non-paid work experiences
  • Post-secondary training at a college, vocational, technical or business school

The panelists will also discuss how ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by:

  • Developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives
  • Recognizing outstanding employer support
  • Increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members
  • Acting as the employers' principal advocate within the Department of Defense
