What is Every Day Carry?
Every Day Carry is a philosophy that many Preppers develop instinctively without putting a lot of structure into it.
The most common unstructured EDC item is Mom's purse! Most Mom's (especially ones with several kids) carry a myriad of items in their purse to prepare them to handle any kid disaster. Things like: extra socks, diapers, brush, fingernail clippers, wipies, snacks, extra money, spare keys and so on.
Men, especially ones that are Preppers, typically carry a few things in their pockets or on their belts such as a knife, leatherman or other tools as their unstructured EDC.
EDC naturally occurs for a Prepper because they are constantly contemplating what they would do in certain situations. As we develop our internal plans for reaction, the necessity of certain tools becomes keenly aware to us and we begin to ensure we always have them with us.
The philosophy of EDC is simply structuring that natural tendency and expanding what we keep with us at all times. Because EDC is a naturally developing philosophy, every Prepper is going to have a slightly different view of it based on their analysis of potential disasters or every day things they may come upon.
This philosophy on Every Day Carry will help you either get started thinking about EDC or possibly give you some ideas for restructuring your current system.
It utilizes three tiers to allow for a minimalist approach while accommodating a comprehensive solution. The three tiers are: - Tier 1: On your person - Tier 2: Everyday Carry Bag - Tier 3: Specialty Kits
This system takes into account important EDC concepts such as Redundancy, Minimalization, Specialization, Ten Essentials and Mundane Items.
