Dear Fellows, Friends & Supporters,
This time of year is always an exciting time for MPF and I am happy to say that I am writing with good news. We received notification that we have been awarded federal funding for next year that will allow us to support 40 full-time AmeriCorps members starting in August! There are so many of you that have helped us through the past year and there are too many to thank. I will briefly say a special thank you to the MPF Advisory Board and some of our biggest champions at Northeastern: John Tobin, Tim Leshan and Mike Ferrari. Thank you!In more exciting news, on July 27th, we will celebrate the graduation of 36 Fellows! We are proud to say that we have 100% retention this year. We cannot wait to celebrate them and hope you will join us! If you are free on the 27th, and in the Boston area, please let us know. Beyond that, we have some major transitions happening here at MPF and if you want to know more, please read below. Have a great summer!
Best,
Kori Redepenning, Director
Colleen Holohan, Member Development Manager
Paul Bologna, Legislative & Communication Associate

Transitions at MPF
by Kori Redepenning
When I started as the Director of MPF back in 2006, we did not even have a newsletter! It is one small reminder to me how much MPF has grown in the past six years. I have absolutely loved being a part of this organization and that is why it is really bittersweet for me to let you all know that I will be moving at the end of summer to Minnesota to be closer to family. There are so many of you have made the last 9 years with MPF amazing. I have so many great memories of Fellow retreats, host site events, service days, etc. While this decision and transition have not and will not be easy, I feel so fortunate that I can transition on with MPF positioned for on-going success. Securing the federal grant was an enormous accomplishment and will allow us to welcome 40 Fellows in August.
This organization would not be positioned for great things if it did not have fabulous leadership lined up for the future and I am really excited that Colleen will be taking on the Director reigns starting in August. Also, we just hired for a brand new position, Evaluation & Volunteer Manager, and we are excited to announce that Cecelia Auditore, MPF Class X & XI Alum joins us officially today. Therefore, there is no doubt in my mind that MPF will reach new heights and I will be excited to stay a part of that as I transition to Board member later this summer.
Again, thanks for everything, and here's to MPF being awesome for another decade and more.

| MPF Annual Appeal Comes to a Close
The 2012 MPF Annual Appeal wrapped up last week after two weeks of donations from friends, alums, and 100% of our board and staff. Our "Follow Your Dollar" campaign worked to demonstrate how a donation to MPF will have a powerful and positive impact on Fellows and the youth that they work with.
Thank you for all of your support. Your donations mean so much to all of us here and will allow us to continue providing emerging leaders to the youth of Massachusetts.

| MGH and Timility Middle School Team Up
Fellow Ellen Reavey got a mention in this Boston.com article.
Massachusetts General Hospital employees and local middle school students recently teamed up to work on science projects, and the results created a fair of experiments and analyses for the students to show off.
The hospital employees who take part in the hospital's 23-year-old program mentoring students help students from the James P. Timilty Middle School develop a project for the school science fair and help foster their interests in science.
This year, Timilty students developed experiments and projects that focused on a range of issues, including the analyses of varying chemicals and substances; the effect of mass on gravity; fruit flies' attraction to different substances; and investigations of music and its effect on memory.
One student, Arsiama Zacharias, teamed with Back Bay resident Dr. Ahmed Mady, who works at the hospital's Cardiovascular Research Center, to create a project about the effect of a fluid's density on buoyancy.
Zacharias and her classmates displayed their projects at the hospital's main campus and she, along with four other students, advanced to the city-wide Science Fair.
"The youthful exuberance of the Timilty students is evident in the passionate and articulate presentations of their science projects," said Ellen Reavey, the Massachusetts Promise Fellow, who oversaw this year's mentoring program with Timilty Middle School. "We are grateful to the MGH mentors and look forward to their continued support in the future."
