| EXCEPTIONAL EFFORTS | |
The Y counts on the generosity of the community to help us fulfill our mission. Each year the Y holds a campaign to raise the resources needed to address some of our community's most pressing social issues like safe and affordable child care, childhood obesity, and upholding academic standards. Volunteers go into the community telling their personal Y stories about the great purpose of the Y and asking for donations which provide financial assistance scholarships to anyone wishing to participate but cannot afford to pay standard program fees. We would like to personally thank Mr. James Wise for his exceptional work and volunteerism with the Strong Communities Campaign this year. His efforts alone have brought in over $3,000 and he is still in the community informing friends and associates about our Y and the need for it in this community! Mr. Wise and other friends of the Y have laid the blueprint for what it takes to be a true Y volunteer! |

Does your daily routine consist of sitting home watching television? Would you like to add a workout to your schedule, but do not have the time or cannot work out on traditional exercise equipment? If so, you are not alone and the Westmoreland Family YMCA knows this. In an increased effort to provide more fun and exercise for adults of any age, we have begun offering Open Gym Pickleball and Open Gym Basketball. Pickleball is a fun racket-sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis and ping-pong for a fun workout. Participants will enjoy free play in the A.T. Johnson Gymnasium Monday thru Friday from 10am-12:30pm. Not for sure how to play? Come on out and see for yourself! This program is free to Y members and only $4 for program participants. Only available in the evenings? Play a game or two of basketball in the A.T. Johnson Gymnasium on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30pm and Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00pm. Admission is $3 at the door! |
