Tax Assistance for Unemployed Taxpayers
The Internal Revenue Service recognizes that many people may be having difficult times financially. Events such as job loss, debt forgiveness or tapping a retirement fund can impact taxes. The following is a list of free resources for tax preparation.
Free File: Do Your Federal Taxes for Free
Tax Center: Resources for Unemployed Taxpayers
VITA: The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $50,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation to qualified individuals in local communities.
Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC): Clinics represent low income taxpayers before the IRS and assist taxpayers in audits, appeals and collection disputes. LITCs can also help taxpayers respond to IRS notices and correct account problems. |
Self Check
Self Check is a voluntary, free and simple online service of E-Verify that allows job seekers to check their employment eligibility first. From the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, this website is available in both English and Spanish.
All employers in the United States are required to verify the work eligibility of everyone they hire. Self Check enables individuals to enter the same information into Self Check that employers enter into E-Verify. |
How Does Your County Rate?
The Monthly Job Placement Report is a new management report developed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and Workforce Florida Inc. to provide better, real-time measurement of job placement performance by the state's 24 regional workforce boards and the nearly 100 one-stop centers they direct to provide workforce services to job seekers and businesses. Regional workforce boards are ranked from 1-24 based on their job-placement performance.
The report was created in response to Governor Rick Scott's call for enhanced performance measurement in workforce and economic development focused on critical results that bolster Florida's economic recovery and growth. |
