This Month . . .

Those of you who have been reading my newsletter regularly are accustomed to seeing a feature article in this spot. Well, this month I am super busy getting ready for my "Magic Fabrics, Special Effects" retreat at South Lake Tahoe. I'm having so much fun coming up with new exercises, samples, and quilts This is my idea of work!

You might like to check out my new article on value in the July/August issue of McCall's Quilting. It expands on what I wrote about value a few months ago and has more samples and ideas. Another "Magic Fabrics" Retreat

My retreat at Tahoe June 17-20 is full, but I'll be doing it again on October 26-29, this time at Sugar Pine Quilt Shop in Grass Valley (the shop and classroom are wonderful). And if we're lucky, the fall colors will be glorious. You'll find an overview of the retreat on my website, and I will start registration as soon I return from Tahoe. Just for Fun . . .

I have finally succumbed to hexamania, the passion for stitching (and stitching and stitching) hexagons. These are shot-cotton hexagons on a backdrop of "Gradations Pastel Rainbow" fabric. I have no idea what I'll do with them. I just wanted you to see the yummy colors.

Learn about opalescence and luster, two subtle (and sometimes elusive) special effects that involve color and light. And yes, they are magical!
