Montessori International Preschool
Greetings!

We are thrilled that we have already received registrations for the preschool and that so far, five precious little ones will be joining us when the preschool starts on 17 August 2011. We will also have another 3 munchkins starting with us at the beginning of September. Things are going well and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the first children to Montessori International Preschool!

On the practical side, the Building Department at the kommune need to do one more process called "nabo-orientering," where the neighbours are informed of our project. This should go smoothly and should hopefully be the last procedure before approval of the building permit. I will keep you updated with the progress.

We are also searching for an assistant teacher. Please see the requirements for application on the right and on our website. We are looking forward to creating a strong and friendly team so that our Montessori children are happy and comfortable at their new preschool.

Best regards,

Our New Head Teacher

We are very pleased to introduce to you our new Head Teacher, Kristine Høj Johnson.

Kristine

Kristine is 36 years old and was born in Denmark. She lives in Allerød with her boyfriend and their two children, Toby and Mia.

Kristine graduated in 2000 with a bachelors degree as a social worker from Skovtofte Seminarium in Virum, Copenhagen. Thereafter, she moved to Arizona, USA where she completed her last internship for college. She worked as a social worker for Prehab of Arizona for 5 years in behavioural health treatment homes and domestic violence shelters. Additionally, she did different types of child counseling including outreach counseling for children in need.

After having her first child, Toby in 2005, she went back to school and became an AMI Montessori Teacher, graduating from the Montessori Education Centre of Arizona. She worked as the Head Teacher at a Montessori school in Mesa, Arizona until she moved back to Copenhagen in January 2008. Since then, she has been working at Rygaards International School as a reception teacher and a support teacher. In 2009, she had her daughter Mia and was on maternity leave for a year with her.

"I am very excited to be part of Montessori International Preschool and I am looking forward to meeting your children."

We are so lucky to have Kristine on the team! She is definitely a real asset to our preschool and she will be crucial to developing and implementing our Montessori curriculum.
