Montessori International Preschool
Greetings!

First of all, I would like to say how happy I am to send you this first newsletter! This means that Montessori International Preschool is under way after one and half years of hard work and especially a lot of patience.

Second, I would like to thank you all so much for your support in this project which means so much to me and which I am sure will prove to be very enjoyable.

Finally, I encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Twitter where I will be giving constant updates of our progress and activities. Our links are below.

I am looking forward to hearing your comments if you have any and I wish you a beautiful week.

Best regards,

News of the Preschool

It has been a long and winding road but we are getting closer to our goal!

We still do not have the final letter from the kommune that confirms the approval for the house that we found for the preschool. However, we want to show them that we are more than ready to get going with the project so we will take the risk and announce our opening date:
17 August 2011!

Valby

The only thing we can say now about the house is that it is located in Valby, close to Carlsberg. We will confirm the exact address once the kommune has officially approved it all.

It is a very nice villa at the end of a quiet street, where there is very little traffic and direct access to a bicycle path. It is 10 minutes on foot from Valby station, with easy access by bus on Valby Langgade.

We will have to do quite a few changes inside the house and in the garden and this might take a few months but the result will be so nice that I am sure the children will feel as if it is their second home.

Some of the works include an interior ventilation system, a fire escape route, children's toilets, a wheelchair access through an outdoor platform, a new fence in the garden and the list goes on!

We are also in full fundraising mode! We are approaching companies for sponsorship and applying to local funds for financial support for the building requirements. We are also developing our support association, Montessori Støtteforening, to help us promote the Montessori method throughout Denmark. Please show your support by becoming a member :-)

Registrations

We are now accepting registrations to the preschool.

Our requirements for children to be admitted at the preschool are:

- children must be at least 2.5 years old (born before February 2009)
- children must be nappy-trained (no more nappies/diapers)

We are still waiting for the final approval from the kommune and we are hoping to welcome the first children at the preschool on
17 August 2011.

We have started an association to support all the activities that promote the Montessori educational approach in Denmark.

The funds collected for the association will also support local charities and associations.

If you would like to become a member, the fee is 100 kr. per year and it will also include events and activities for children.

Support of Montessori

"We both went to Montessori school, and I think it was part of that training of not following rules and orders, being self-motivated, questioning what's going on in the world, and doing things a little bit different that contributed to our success."
