Only one week away!

With one week to go to the start of the 2012 Lake Ontario 300 Challenge, we are pleased to see some exciting yachts entered in this year's race on both the Scotch Bonnet and Main Duck Courses. It is going to provide some great excitement for all those people watching the race live via Yellowbrick tracking. www.yellowbrick-tracking.com

Now that the field is set the final adjustments are being made to the splits. The Skippers Plan Team Challenge teams are being put together and everyone is in final preparation mode. If you require assistance you can reach us at www.lo300.org/about-us/contact-us

For those yachts who are coming from a distance we wish you save travels and fair winds to Port Credit Yacht Club.

We would like to announce that every participant in this year's race will receive for free an Ackroo Rewards card, www.ackroo.com which will enable you to receive discounts from various retailers like UK Halsey Sails and Canadian Yachting Magazine. The value that LO300 participants will receive will continue to increase as additional retailers join this growing program. Thanks to Ackroo for this special offer.

Last minute reminders will be sent out to all registered skippers, which provided the details that need to be finalized prior to the race. If you have questions please contact us at info@lo300.org

Sincerely,
Darren Gornall
Chair, Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Group

Lake Ontario 300 Title Sponsor

Ackroo is the 2012 title sponsor of the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge.  As leaders in the loyalty and rewards space and specialists in building association based affinity programs the LO300 is very excited to partner with this great organization.   Ackroo will not only be sponsoring the event they will also be launching their next rewards program designed specifically for the yachting community at the LO300 Challenge. This is great news for the sailing and boating community and even greater news for the merchants that support us.

Yellowbrick Tracking System

Yellowbrick transponder Once again we are utilizing Yellowbrick for the best means of watching any offshore event. Yellowbrick's race viewer has some excellent features that make this system more entertaining and we encourage everyone to log on to an event prior to our race to get used to the various tools available.

The race viewer package offered by Yellowbrick includes:

  • Multiple groups, or classes of yacht
  • Display of waypoints, markers and rhum line
  • Historic tracks, as well as the current locations of yachts, replay
  • Display of speed and course for each yacht
  • Display of country flag, skipper name and yacht name
  • Link to individual yacht blog, if provided
  • Weather (GRIB) information via PredictWind, look at future wind data

The tracker will be posted a few days before the race on the official LO300 website!

The Weatherman for Racers returns!

Once again Ron Bianchi will return to give us his famous predictions of what we can expect for this year's race. Long term forecast does show some weather coming through, which always makes this race exciting and Ron will assist us in understanding the patterns. If this is your first LO300, this is a must event to attend.
