Broad Reach
Broad Reach Foundation for Youth Leaders has returned as the official charity of the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge.
BR logoBroad Reach is a terrific Charity, founded on the principles of sailing and is a volunteer run charity. Broad Reach offers the only free program for at-risk youth that combines building life skills, job training and sailing in a unique setting aboard one of our 40' sailboats.  Through on-shore and on-water programs, youth aged 12-24, use sailing as a learning medium to develop confidence, leadership, teamwork, responsibility and positive work ethic.
The challenge of creating this unique classroom and accomplishing their high success rate makes Broad Reach a perfect fit for LO300. Broad Reach will be taking a huge step this year by entering one of their yachts into the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge. The boat will be crewed by "at risk" participants from their program with select program volunteers. What a great experience for these youths to participate in and what a challenge it will be to complete this race.  The challenge has already started for the Broad Reach Foundation volunteers, as they are already preparing their boat to participate in the LO300 Challenge. They can certainly use the support of our Lake Ontario participants and fans. (No they are not being charged the registration fee.)
Broad Reach has also committed to support Lake Ontario 300 participants by providing a photographer to capture the excitement of the first leg of the race. To further support the Broad Reach Foundation and add a little fun to the event, we are planning a Calcutta in conjunction with the Skippers Plan Team Challenge with the proceeds going directly to Broad Reach. More details will follow. Broad Reach will be setting up a link on their website that will identify the different ways our participants can help to raise money to help support this needy cause, which includes pledge sheets to seek sponsors for your yachts participation in the race.
Sponsors Update
Air Canada is back again in 2011!
logo Air canada
Air Canada has been a proud sponsor of the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge for over 5 years. With special thanks to John Segeart, Air Canada, who is an avid sailing enthusiast and White Sail participant; a program was developed to reward anyone who finishes this race, non-competitive sailors can expect to win.
The Air Canada Finishing Draw has been a huge success providing the winner with 2 Air Canada tickets to anywhere in North America including Hawaii and the Bahamas. (Locations serviced by Air Canada)
The Air Canada Finishing Draw will be drawn every year from the list of finishing yachts and presented at the Awards Banquet in September. This is a great incentive for everyone in the race and we look forward to Air Canada's continued support. As Canada's Premier Airline, Air Canada provides superior value and the highest standard of customer service. The Lake Ontario 300 is proud of this partnership.
Become a Contributing Sponsor
to the Lake Ontario 300 Crew Bags
It's easy and it's a great way to promote or demo your company's product.
One of the traditions of this race are the distribution of the LO300 Crew Bags prior to the race where, from year to year, you can expect to find a variety of promotional items from our key sponsors and other contributors.
You are invited to contribute to this important aspect of the race; if you or someone you know are interested in introducing a new product to the market or are simply looking for an opportunity to increase exposure for your existing product, drop us a line! We anticipate over 200 yachts will participate in the 2011 event; your contribution can be one item per boat or one item per crew member; it's your choice. In previous years, the Crew Bags were used to promote small items such as cookies, dried sausages, flashlights, sunscreens, candies, etc.  You get the idea!
This is a limited opportunity, as we don't want to weigh down every boat prior to the start of the race.
Contact Ron Watt or Andrea Mooney to find out how you can help maintain the tradition!
Thank you, we look forward to seeing you on the start line!
