Port Credit Offshore Racing Presentation a huge success!

The LO300 organizing committee conducted the third of four sessions on Wednesday night at PCYC.

PCYC Seminar 1
Darren Gornall and Ian McAllister

Those in attendance were exposed to the latest and greatest in what Gill has to offer.   All were reminded of the importance of and the most effective layering methods to keep you comfortable and effective while on the water.  LO300 regalia is now available at The Store.

PCYC Seminar 2
Colin Clark from Gill

One of our newest sponsors, HUB International, introduced their portfolio of products and provided some insightful reminders to owners about their liability and fully understanding their coverage.  If you are interested in learning more contact HUB International at 1-888-717-SAIL  (7245) or Brenton McAnuff directly at Brenton.McAnuff@hubinternational.com.

Sponsors Update

Transat Marine has returned as a valued sponsor of the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge in two different ways:

  • Spinlock - the official personal floatation device of the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge. Spinlock has been a key part of our safety presentations for the past three years and is available at both The Rigging Shoppe and Masons Store Chandlery. Spinlock represents the ultimate in life preservation and is something we emphasize as a priority on our major offshore races.
  • Harken Awards - Last year's Harken Special Merit Awards are outlined in the Lake Ontario Offshore Racing Guide and were a welcome addition to the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge. Harken has been a strong supporter of offshore racing and manufactures the strong level of durable rigging that is required to persevere through the harsh conditions experienced in the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge and the Susan Hood Trophy Race.
Crew Bank
Don't get left behind!
Interested in finding crew or interested in becoming crew for either the Susan Hood Trophy Race or the Lake Ontario 300? Get your name up on our crew list.
The Lake Ontario 300 and the Susan Hood Trophy Race Crew / Boat Boards are posted on their respective pages on yachtscoring.com.
It is important to make connection with a potential boat or crew early in the year to become familiar and ensure there will be a fit for an overnight race, especially the LO300. Spending three days together on a boat is far different then a few races during a regatta and requires better chemistry. The Susan Hood Trophy Race is the ideal warm up to check out an overnight experience and with ten weeks before the start of the race, it's time to start gathering crew.
Feel free to post your name or boat on both boards and lets make sure everyone has the crew needed to be competitive.

Yacht Scoring
More than just registrations!
Yacht Scoring is not only the registration website for racing skippers, it also provides valuable information for anyone wanting to keep up to date on either the Susan Hood Trophy Race or the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge.

By going to the dedicated pages you are able to
  • Check out the Current Entries and Scratch Sheet
  • Obtain the official Race Documents
  • View the Crew Lists
  • Post a name on the Crew/Boat Boards
  • Subscribe for Event News to get instant information on the race as it happens
  • Get race results
Weatherman Returns
Ron Bianci
Ron Bianci, the official weatherman to the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge has once again confirmed his presence at this year's Lake Ontario 300 Skippers Meeting as well as the Susan Hood Trophy Race pre-race gathering. As we all know, Ron is Canada's leading weatherman when it comes to predicting winds over the water. Anyone who participated in last year's Lake Ontario 300 can certainly account to his accuracy. Ron is an accomplished yacht racer with a keen insight and understanding of which information we need to be competitive and  remain safe.
Weather Briefing Ron BianciRon's presence at this year's Susan Hood Trophy Race will make it worthwhile arriving early and participating in the pre-race events.
