Toronto International Boat Show

Once again this year's boat show was very successful evidenced by the number of visitors to our booth. Visitors expressed interest in returning to the LO300 and also participating for the first time. We also received a huge number of positive comments about this event. We are seeing continued interest from yachts not anchoring on Lake Ontario, which is very encouraging. For the first time the LO300 was marketed at the Chicago Sail Fest through the GLSS. Feedback from that race indicates the LO300 also received positive comments from many people visiting the GLSS booth.

Thank you, to all our visitors at this year's show, if your questions have not been answered please feel free to email our committee at  [email protected] or show up at any of our Offshore Presentations.

NOR and Yacht Scoring
The Notice of Race for both the LO300 and the SHTR has been posted on the new website. The revised Sailing Instructions are due to be posted in March.

If you have not noticed, LO300.org is a new website that incorporates Yacht Scoring. This is an exciting move that will make many aspects of this race easier to manage and easier for our participants and fans to gain information. The key will be the data that is captured and used as part of the race operations. You will see a greater connection with the registration process, Twitter and Facebook, as we get closer to the event.  Please check it out and give us your feedback.

Sponsorship Update

Sperry Top-Sider has once again renewed it's commitment to the Lake Ontario 300 and all our participants will enjoy the famous Pre-Race Breakfast sponsors by Sperry Top-Sider as well as the Sperry T-Shirts that will be included in your crew kits. The Sperry Ring will once again be awarded to the Sperry Cup Trophy Winners.

Mount Gay Rum has renewed their commitment to the Lake Ontario 300 with an increased package, and yes the hats are back. Mount Gay has been synonymous with offshore sailing and it is great that they participate in this event.

Skippers Plan Team Challenge will continue and hopefully get even bigger this year. Thank you, to Skippers Plan for their generous donation that allows the Lake Ontario 300 to provide funds for Junior Sailing in our participating clubs. It's never too late to start planning this year's team.

The Coolest Race on the Lake Just Got Cooler.

The excitement at the beginning of this years racing season will be the buzz around the Susan Hood Trophy Race. For the first time in the history of the race, this event has sponsors that will further improve the overall event. Sperry Top-Sider has signed on a sponsor and will be providing Skippers Shirts and participating in the post race reception. Sperry Top-Sider provides an excellent line of cold weather boots and apparel, which are worth checking out prior to this race!

North Sails is co-sponsor of this event and will be providing the high quality flags that have been used for the Lake Ontario 300. North Sails Toronto has seen the value in participating in the fastest area of growth on the lakes.

What will make this year's event even more exciting will be the post race reception where we will be handing out the flags and enjoying the afternoon facilities at PCYC.

The new publication for this year will be available in March, it is an exciting guide that outlines many technical and safety related issues surrounding offshore racing and sailing in general.
