| Potholes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Due to extreme temperatures, ice/water and plowing, potholes are difficult to repair in the winter. Hot asphalt, the most effective means of repairing potholes, is not readily available since most asphalt plants in the region close for the winter. Alternative methods, such as cold patch and bag asphalt, are just short-term fixes. For these reasons, work on some smaller potholes will likely be deferred to later in the year. In the case of larger potholes, the City is sending trucks significant distances to buy hot asphalt.
You can assist the DPW by reporting potholes to the City's Customer Service Center by calling 203-854-3200. Please do not call DPW directly as it will only delay the process.
To maximize the productivity of road crews, DPW is fixing potholes on an area-by- area basis so be patient and give them at least a few days to complete the work.
In the meantime, drive carefully and be alert for hazardous road conditions and work crews.
| Our Mission
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The mission of the Norwalk Association of Silvermine Homeowners (NASH) is to provide a voice for Silvermine as a historic, cultural and natural resource. We support a vision of a rural neighborhood within whose boundaries change can continue to occur while the feeling of community and the "sense of place" remain strong, the important historic structures are preserved, and the existing biodiversity, in all its richness, is not compromised. |
