Economic Indicators Point to End of Recession in Pontotoc County
The unemployment rate for the Ada area dropped below 4% for the first time since December 2008. The unemployment rate began to rise in late 2008 and early 2009 due to the national recession. In 2009, the unemployment rate peaked reaching a high of 6.3%, and began declining slowly during the next several months. Southern Workforce Investment Board Releases Economic Profile Report
The Southern Workforce Investment Area recently released an Economic Profile Report detailing Pontotoc County and the entire region. The report covers population growth, employment growth, commuting patterns, largest employers, and occupation growth information. Tickets Now Available for
Business and Industry Night Out
Tickets are now available for the 3rd Annual Business and Industry Night Out Event. The event will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center.
This event will feature an Economic Outlook for 2012 and recognize local businesses for their contributions to the community and economy. Outgoing AJF Board Members will also be recognized. Table sponsorships are $200 and individual tickets are $35.
The Ada Jobs Foundation is still accepting Nominations for the following awards: New Business of the Year, Entrepreneurship Award, Innovations Award, Environmental Award, Ambassador Award, Employer of the Year (Small, Medium, and Large), and Economic Development Leader of the Year.
