Business and Industry Night Out
 

The Ada Jobs Foundation is currently accepting Nominations for Business & Industry Awards, which will be presented at the 3rd Annual Business and Industry Night Out. This event is scheduled from July 14, 2011.

Award Categories are: New Business of the Year, Entrepreneurship Award, Innovations Award, Environmental Award, Ambassador Award, Employer of the Year (Small, Medium, and Large), and Economic Development Leader of the Year. Nominations forms can be found on the Ada Jobs Foundation Website at www.AdaWorks.org or by clicking here. Any Business with an operation in the Ada area is eligible to be nominated and businesses can be nominated for more than one award.

Tickets for the awards banquet will be available shortly. We are working to finalize event details, including our keynote speaker.

Economic Indicators

Unemployment Rate

(Mar 2011)

    Ada MSA -  4.4%

  Oklahoma -  6.1%

  United States -  8.8%
  
The unemployment rate for the Ada area dropped from 5.4% in February to 4.4% in March.  In March 2010, the unemployment rate was 5.7%. Ada remains well below the state and national unemployment rates, both of which decreased from February to March as well.

  US - 153,406,000

 

The size of both the Ada and US labor forces grew from February to March, while Oklahoma's labor force decreased in size.
 

Building Permits

(Apr 2011)

  City of Ada - $272,600

 

Construction in the City of Ada during 2011 has started off slow, with the majority of projects consisting of remodeling. Building permits can vary greatly each month and we are optimistic that construction will increase during the remainder of 2011.

Ada sales tax collections for this month increased by 36.9% from 2010.  Collections for the calendar year to date are 4.5% higher than 2010's year to date collections.
