ECU Presidential Inauguration
John R. Hargrave will become the 8th President of ECU
East Central University President John R. Hargrave will be formally inaugurated as the eight president of ECU on November 19th at 2:30 pm in the Ataloa Theatre, Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.
The public is invited to the ceremony and reception which follows.

Shop Ada This Holiday Season
The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee has been hard at work organizing the annual Day After Thanksgiving Sale in Ada.
Area merchants will be open early to offer savings and bargains.
On average, for every $100 spend in the Ada an additional $34 will be generated somewhere in the economy.

ECU To Rename University Center
East Central University will rename the University Center, the Bill S. Cole University Center, in honor of former President Bill S. Cole, Ph.D.
The renaming ceremony will be held on Monday, November 29th at 2 pm. |

Ada Has Highest Per Capita Retail Sales Among Oklahoma Cities
The adjusted retail sales for Ada during the year 2009 totaled over $289.2 million, which ranked Ada 5th in the Oklahoma when compared to cities of similar size.

Three companies in Oklahoma are among the best in the country in their size category,
according to the November edition of Forbes magazine.

Ada Labor Force Continues to Grow
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the September employment number recently and Ada continues to trend positively. The Ada MSA labor force grew while and the unemployment rate declined.

Pontotoc County - $18,604 The Ada Unemployment Rate decreased from August to September, while the state and national rates remained relatively unchanged. Ada's rate also showed a decrease from September 2009. Sales tax revenue for the City of Ada was relatively flat (0.3% increase) from 2009 to 2010. However, fiscal year totals are up approximately 8% from last fiscal year. Building permit values for the calendar year are over $24.4 million and indicate a significant increase (100.9%) from last calendar year. |
