Hi Everyone!

Our season is off and running!  This is the second of several newsletters to come (you can expect to see one the 3rd Thursday of each month).  If you did not receive our September newsletter please let us know as it contained important information on upcoming events.  After a crazy first couple of weeks we hope everyone has settled in.  Over the next month we will be watching for any level issues.  If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

The best way is via email at mhdcdance@comcast.net

At this time everyone should have an annual calendar.  If you do not have one it can be found on our website.  If you have not done so already, become a fan on facebook at mhdancecenter or become a friend at Melissa Hoffman Dance.

Featured Family
Because we consider MHDC an extended family we would love to hear more about you.  Last year we started our family of the month feature story.   How do you become that family?  Submit a 2 paragraph description of your family.  Include what town you live in.  Can also include... How many children in your family.  Mom and Dads occupation if you choose. Other activities you enjoy and anything else you would like to share. Would love to know why you chose MHDC and what you enjoy most about our school.

How cool would it be for your dancer to see their family featured? These families will also then be featured on our website!

Face Painting Week
A Favorite Week for Our Youngest Dancers

facepaint

During the week of Monday October 24-Saturday October 29 we will have face painting week.  This is probably the most popular week of the year!  Our young dancers love it!!  Face painting will take place the last 15-20 minutes of class.  Please let the instructor know if your child does not want their face painted.  Paintings can be done on dancer's hands as well.

Note:  This event is for classes that are part of our Dancin Tots to Teens and are under age 9 (class average).

Mindy Silvernale
Featured MHDC Teacher

I always tell people that my MHDC claim to fame is being one of the first 10 students to sign up for dance at MHDC....EVER! My parents tell me that they were out for a drive and passed Melissa in her first location on 102. The studio still had not opened and at the time she was hard at work painting the inside. From that day forward, dance, Melissa and MHDC became the biggest part of my life. Now if you ask her, I know Melissa has enough embarrassing "Mindy Moo" stories to write a book! She's watched me grow up; taking part in her first recital as a four year old, to joining the competitive team, and then being part of the first Subtle Intuition Dance Ensemble under Sandi. While dancing at MHDC I was fortunate enough to be the recipient of many awards from both regional and national competitions as well as a national dance title and many scholarships.

I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to start teaching at an early age. At 16 I started "team teaching" with one of my good friends Devon, whom many of you know. I was instantly hooked! I loved teaching and passing my love of dance on to others. I knew where ever a professional dance career took me, I would always have teaching. It was most difficult to remember to keep school a priority as well as dance, as I was definitely not as passionate about school.... However, being the type-A perfectionist that I am, it was always important to me to do well in school. There were many sleepless nights because heaven forbid I miss a dance class!! My heart has always belonged to the studio, whether teaching or taking classes. This is why when graduation came and I had to make a choice to follow my head or my heart...you all know which I chose. It wasn't easy explaining to people how I could graduate second in my class, be accepted to such a prestigious school, and then decide to dance professionally. There are days when I wonder what my life would have been like, but I always come back to the same word, miserable.

After spending 3 years dancing for Royal Caribbean Cruiselines as a featured soloist and aerialist, I decided it was time to come back home, and I have been teaching at MHDC ever since. Currently, I teach at both MHDC and Carlene Nazarian Dance Center in Salem NH as well as teaching Bikram yoga- yup! that's right! the HOTTT yoga!- in Manchester. I could go on and on forever singing the praises of this studio and it's staff, but the true testament is that I just can't stay away. The other day, I had a student of mine turn to a new student and say, "Miss Mindy has been teaching me since I was 3!" Wow, and now she's 11....it's the greatest reward to be a part of the lives of your children and to share my love and passion with them every week. I think about it all the time how lucky I am that my parents found Melissa those MANY years ago.

Book Your Birthday Bash

Allow Us To Make Your Child's Day Truly Special!

The votes are in and MHDC is the way to go for celebrating your child's special day! Dedicated to making each party a unique experience, MDHC offers a variety of party themes, in addition to  creating your own theme! Kids love the non-stop fun and games while parents love the ease of planning and hosting (not to mention not having clean up duty).

Here what a couple of parents had to say:

"The girls all had a fabulous time! Miss Adria had them up and grooving the whole time with fun, active games and dance routines! The staff took care of absolutely everything, all we had to do was bring the cake and party favors and then enjoy watching the fun!"

-Carol Goff, mother of Chloe

"This year I decided not to have my daughter's birthday party at home to avoid dealing with the after party mess. I saw the MHDC website offering Birthday Bashes and thought it could work. I was right! My daughter had the best time celebrating with her friends. The girls danced, played several games and the staff was super professional, efficient and sweet! I was thrilled that I didn't have move a finger while enjoying and having quality time with the moms! If you are looking for a great place to celebrate your child's birthday party, think MHDC! They take care of all the details, your kids have fun and parents feel pampered by the staff!"

-Isabela Bennet, mother of Cassia
