Looks like Spring may actually be here soon!!
If you are opening this newsletter in your email, note that you will also be receiving it via USPS along with a recital packet that contains a schedule for both picture days, dress rehearsals as well as a tshirt order form. We are asking once again that everyone remembers to check their email for important updates. To date, about only half of the sent newsletters are being opened. We understand how busy everyone tends to be, but we would hate for you to miss important information as this is our main form of communication.
Costume balances: Thank you to all who have been asking about costume balances! We will be sending home bills to let you know of any balances that are due on your dancers costumes. The following classes we will be billing at a later date as we are just shopping and selecting items: Mon Intro to Modern, Wed Int Teen Jazz, Thursday Modern II, Modern III, Int Modern and Friday Modern II/III. Also note: Wednesday Hip Hop (10-12) did not put a costume deposit but, after looking we chose to order costumes for this group, thus you will be billed when we bill costume balances.
With the warm weather also comes Spring sports season. We ask everyone to remember that classes are now working on recital numbers, thus we are in need of dancers being in class. So, we ask that you consider alternating if that becomes necessary. |

Featured Family of the Month
Meet the Ledoux Family!
My mom, Heather, has been a part of MHDC for just as long as I have and is always there to help! She has worked as a nurse for nine years and is back in college at Rivier to get her RN. In her free time she likes to listen to music and read...and study...a lot. She actually took some classes at MHDC when Melissa was just beginning (but she won't say how many years ago that was!)
My dad, Jeremy, is a Network Administrator. Yeah, he's a computer geek. He is always a proud supporter at the many competitions throughout the year, even helping with props in a pinch. He also enjoys cooking, home improvement (he lives by the DIY Network!) and, of course, spending time with the family.
My brother, Dan, is eleven and in 5th grade at Litchfield Middle School. He has been taking classes at MHDC since he was two years old and still loves it, taking hip-hop every Wednesday with Sara Jean. He has played baseball for four seasons now. He's a self-proclaimed Wii expert and boasts a mountainous collection of Legos!
Then there's me, Amanda! I'm sixteen and a sophomore at Campbell High School and recently got my driver's license. I have been a part of MHDC for almost eleven years and couldn't imagine my life without my dance family. I'm currently an assistant and on the competition team. Between classes, rehearsals, competitions and schoolwork, it may be busy, but I love every minute of it! When I'm not at the studio, I enjoy volunteering, being with my friends and listening to music.
MHDC has broadened our circle of friends, given us a chance to give back to the community and appreciate the arts. Dance has become such a part of our family over the years and helped us enjoy time together. We're happy to share the positivity it has brought into our lives!
Amanda Ledoux Email mhdancecenter@comcast.net with your family bio and see your family become our featured family! We'd love to hear from you! |

Featured Teacher: Sara-Jean Caira
My love for dance began at the very young age of 2 when my Mom enrolled me into a creative movement class because I just couldn't sit still! Miss Sandi was my first dance teacher, so her love of the art was instilled in me instantly!! Although my love and appreciation for dance has evolved over the years, I still feel that passion every time I step into the dance studio. I have been teaching all types of dance for 11 years, and at MHDC I primarily teach hip hop. The students are always surprised to find out that I actually know what a "shuffle" is or that I can still do a split, since they are used to seeing me in my baggy clothes and hip hop sneakers!! I think hip hop is my favorite because it is a form of dance that is always evolving and transforming with new styles and new dance steps popping up all the time. It allows me to be creative at all levels, and the students and I always enjoy coming up with silly names for all of these steps we create!
Although I consider dance to be a huge part of my life and, quite frankly, it defines most of who I am, I still actually have a full time job! I am a guidance counselor at Pelham High School . I also love this job and consider myself extremely lucky to have found not one, but two careers that I am passionate about! Somehow, I find time to be highly involved at Pelham High School as well. I am the dance team coach, a class advisor, chair of the community service committee, choreographer for the annual fashion show, and a hold a few other titles too. Last year I also started up the Relay For Life of Pelham which turned out to be the biggest "first year Relay" New England has ever seen! I will be the Chair of the event again this year and am hoping for it to be even bigger and better! Along with teaching dance, working as a guidance counselor, and coordinating fundraisers, I still find some free time to spend with my family and friends, which is extremely important to me. I pride myself on surrounding myself with positive and wonderful people, which is why I love teaching at MHDC and working with all of these amazing students!! |

Have You Visited Our Website Lately?
If you have not been to our website lately, take a look! We're excited to be creating a stronger presence on the web, so be sure to utilize our email archives, class schedules, storm weather updates (although hopefully no more snow), upcoming events, as well as downloadable PDF documents! Everything you need is at your fingertips.
What makes our studio so great is the hundreds of families that share their children's love for dance with us. Our photo and video galleries are starting to fill - but we would love to add your memories (past and present) to get a true sense of the MDHC community!
We are also looking for anyone who has celebrated a Birthday Bash with us to share your memories! Share with others the fun you had celebrating your special day with MHDC!
Do you have a favorite recital memory? Have you read Miss Melissa's articles that have been published in Dance Life Magazine? Do you have a favorite dancer on So You Think You Can Dance? Our blog is also up and running - check out and feel free to comment on some of the subjects being written about! |
