Hi Everyone!
We hope all of our dancers and their parents enjoyed the opportunity to see classes in their entirety. Please email us any great pictures or videos of your child's class for our new website! Although the parking lot may have been a bit crazy all of our teachers were so happy with the outcome of this special week! This is the fourth of several newsletters to come. As mentioned previously our newsletters will be sent every month on the third Thursday. If you have not received the previous newsletters please let us know and we will get those to you as soon as possible. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. Thankgiving Week Schedule!
The studio will be closed Wednesday November 24-Sunday November 28 for regular classes. We will however be open for Zumba on Thanksgiving morning and Saturday 8-9am. |

In The News
Melissa Hoffman Dance Center is extremely proud of all our efforts to give back to the community. On November 6 some of our company dancers participated in Dancers Making a Difference a benefit to raise money for local food pantries. On November 20 they also participated in in Project Santa to raise money for local families in need of help in purchasing holiday gifts for their children. Coming up on December 12 our ensemble "Subtle Intuition" will participate in a benefit show for the Salvation Army at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. This is sure to be a great show! Contact the Palace Theatre for ticket information. "Great kids doing great things!"
Also, for those who may be heading to Boston to see "The Rockettes" be looking for MHDC alum Kerry Margolin. She will be one of the high kicking Rockettes! |

Featured Family of the Month
Meet The Beauchesnes!
Our close-knit family of five (Joe 14, Julia 12, Ava 7 and parents, Kerry and Rich) live in beautiful Litchfield, NH. Oh! And we can't forget our beloved 5 yr old Shih Tzu, Tony Soprano. Julia (a 7th grader at LMS) and Ava (a 2nd grader at GMS) both started dancing at MHDC when they were just 2 yrs old. Dance is their absolute passion and nothing makes a parent happier than watching their children do something they love. I believe the girls have had all of the MHDC teachers at least once and we've loved them all!
Joe (a 9th grader at BG) lives and breathes hockey. He started playing at the age of 3 and has been a AAA hockey goalie since he was 6 yrs old. Needless to say, our second homes are ice rinks and MHDC!
Besides our love for dance and hockey, we enjoy camping (the hardcore way up in the mountain with a tent kind of camping). I'm also a Zumba junkie! I was very reluctant to try because unlike my daughters, I cannot dance! I joke that Frankenstein is more graceful than I am. But, once I tried it and saw how much fun it was, I was hooked!
On the rare occasion that we are home, you will usually see us outside enjoying the weather, working in the yard or Rich working on his Freightliner truck.
In a nutshell, the Beauchesnes are a busy gang. And although our schedule seems crazy at times, we wouldn't change the thing! Email mhdancecenter@comcast.net with your family bio and see your family become our featured family! We'd love to hear from you! |

New Preschool Classes to Begin in January
Spread the word to your friends and family! We will be starting new PSI classes and we have openings in our Parent/Tot classes. As a holiday special we will be offering free registration to those registered by the Holiday break. We will also extend our refer a friend offer to any of you who refer a friend to these classes!

December Parents Night Out: December 4th
With the holidays just around the corner this is a great opportunity for parent's to shop and enjoy an evening without the kids. We understand this time of year can be hectic, so leave the kids with us while you take care of those lingering errands! Or maybe you need a night to yourself, go ahead give yourself the treat while the kids have fun with us!
Events to include: pizza and drinks, arts and crafts, sports play (yes even boys would have fun too!), dance games, tumbling obstacle course fun, tumbling, movies, and much more!
Don't miss out on the fun! MHDC's December Parent's Night Out will be held December 4th from 7-10:30 PM. Please contact us by December 1 to hold your spot!

Snow or Ice Cancellations
I know, I know, noone wants to think about this! But, in the event of inclement weather our policy will be as follows...
-if there is a school delay in Hudson, Litchfield or Londonderry there will be no early am classes. For our classes held at 12:30 we will make a decision by 11 am and for those held later in the afternoon and evening we will make a decision by 2pm.
To find out if there is class or not please refer to our website mhdancecenter.com and look for an announcement on the front page. Or, you may call the studio at 886-7909 and the answering service will direct you.
When in doubt we ask that you use your own discretion when choosing to come out. In the event of a cancellation dancers will be able to do a makeup in a class of their same level. In the event we must cancel any given day more than two times we will schedule a makeup class. |

Costume Deposits due November 15-20
This is a reminder that costume deposits were due earlier in the month. If you have yet to do so please contact the office as soon as possible.
A deposit of $60 is due for each class your dancer participates in. This will not include any technique classes (for those who take multiple ballets please make one deposit at this time and we will determine which classes perform), music theatre, lyric and Parent/Tot (these classes do not perform in the recital).
The following classes will not require a deposit as we will put costumes together at a later date. Hip Hop 11+, Hip Hop 13+, Adv Hip Hop, Hip Hop 10-12, any pointe.
Please be watching your email as we will be sending recital forms separately. Please note: we cannot order a costume without a deposit. |

Featured Teacher: Carrie O'Rourke
In addition to our evening teachers, MHDC is also home to preschool teachers who working with the AM classes. Carrie O'Rourke has been working with our preschool leveled classes for over 10 years now. Her enthusiasm and passion for sharing the joy of dance with little ones is inspirational and a true joy to watch. Here is a bit about Carrie in her own words:
I think the thing that makes me unique in a preschool situation is the compassion I feel for the kids who are scared. Having had a daughter that was genuinely terrified to be without me, I think I have a special perspective for the kids that are anxious in class. You can see how much they WANT to do it, but just need a little extra support and encouragement to be successful. I love this age group. They are so honest and enthusiastic. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to get to work with them!
I enrolled my daughter in MHDC's Parent/Tot class, without the slightest idea that I would end up working for Melissa! I think the reason I came to her attention was because I was the last mother in the Parent/Tot class the year that Jillian and I were in it. I was in class with her until March! She did eventually do the recital, which was nothing short of a miracle, but I ended up right back in class with her the next year. That was the year Melissa asked me if I would be interested in assisting her in a PSI class. I did that in the time period that Jillian was in pre-school with Jon (Melissa's oldest son). Slowly, over the years, I have just done more.
Carrie lives in Londonderry with her husband Dave and daughters Jillian and Mariah (who calls University of Michigan her home during the school year).

We are very excited to launch our new website! It has been redone, updated, and reformatted for your convenience. We have a calendar where important dates and upcoming events will be posted - a great quick reference when you need that reminder! We know how full email inboxs can get, so we have included an email archive page for your convenience. Also new to the website is our blog section. Join in on the conversation with thoughts and posts - we'd love to hear from you!
Just like a new plant, our website is still young and has much growing to do! Although we have a lot of the necessary information, we are looking to expand our photo and video galleries.
