SMYLESMYLE Program

BCIU MDS students and about 30-40 6th, 7th and 8th grade Pennridge buddies work together every day to create friendships through a sign language group, games, a volunteer bluegrass band that comes every Thursday for all of our SMYLE kids, Karaoke, (from an IU grant!). We also do special projects together such as SMYLE-grams for teachers (having all the students write thank you notes to a specific teacher) and make and sell soup and cookie jars during the Holidays. The profits from the sales go to specific causes and we get our SMYLE kids completely involved. Our profits are donated to various local causes and/or families. We are in our 6th year of "business" and because of the support of fabulous people who believe in our kids, and generous IU Education Foundation grants, we have been able to contribute to classrooms, teachers, students, and families all within our community. We want our SMYLE kids famous for their hearts and talents!
