The Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce will be holding it's Annual meeting, Wednesday, February 24th. This year we will have a festive Mardi Gras theme and will feature Keynote speaker Neil Fried, State of Alaska Economist, Presentation of the GPCC Pioneer awards and the election of 3 new board members.

Pioneer Award Nominations

The Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce takes great pride in nominating and presenting the Pioneer Award each year. 

The Pioneer Award was established in 1986 as the Chamber's highest form of recognition.
 
Qualifications:
 
1.      Must be a member of The Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce.
2.      To have served the Palmer Chamber and the Palmer community with distinction.
3.      Long-term commitment should be a high consideration.

Alice in WonderlandFor years, Alice in Wonderland books and movies have sparked the imaginations of children and adults with their spirit of the fabulous, the fantastic, the wonderful.  We'd like to capture the spirit of Alice in Wonderland in downtown Palmer this February 26th and 27th when Palmer goes Through the Looking Glass!

Jr. Achievement Bowl-A-Thon
Junior Achievement is having a bowl- a thon on Feb 6th at 3pm at North Bowl. We are looking for teams of 5 to participate in this great event. Jr. Achievement is a non profit organization that promotes educating young people about economics and money. All the funds we raise stay in the valley. We have 20 programs planned for the spring in the Mat-Su School District. This is a fun event and a great way to get to spend some times with your friends or co workers. Dorothy A. Jones Volunteer of the Year Award 2009
United Way of Mat-Su established the Dorothy A. Jones Volunteer of the Year Award in 1992 to honor the memory of Dorothy Jones, a foremost community leader whose dedicated service helped to improve the quality of life for Mat-Su residents. To the end of her life, Dorothy served on the United Way of Mat-Su Board of Directors in addition to her many other areas of service.
 
We are currently accepting applications for nominees for the 2009 Volunteer of the Year through February 15, 2010. Awards luncheon to be scheduled for March 2010.
 
Please document the volunteer contributions made by the nominee, using no more than two pages, but no less than one page.  Include the name(s) of organizations served, date(s) of service, and a narrative statement describing how the nominee's volunteerism has helped to improve the quality of life for Mat-Su residents.

"Tie the Knot, Community and College" by Mat-Su College Fine Arts Advisory Council is a dinner/auction event on February 12, 6pm at the train depot in Palmer. Tickets are $50 and the food will be catered by Turkey Red. Included in the Live Auction are Three Machetanz Prints from the family's private collection, and two Giclee`s made especially for the event by featured artist Shane Lamb. Music will be provided by Naomi and Joel Stamoolis, and John Klapperich is the MC. Proceeds support a fun filled family arts and crafts festival in the summer of 2011 on campus.
