Fall is here and it's often when people decide their house needs repainting to get ready for holiday entertaining. The weather is cool and there's not many yard chores to worry about. Schemper's Ace carries several great brands of paint, but it's the Clark and Kensingston line of paint that Ace has been promoting BIG because we are proud to bring this great product to our customers.
Clark and Kensington is a paint and primer in 1, which attracts our customers first. The paint goes on very smoothly, offers great coverage with the micro bead technology and is extremely durable after it has dried for a few days. Schemper's Ace sells this paint in a multitude of finishes, and we can color match to meet your needs. In custom matching choose or bring in a color card, or a quarter size piece of paint that you are trying to match. We can match the color best when it's a bigger piece.
When painting here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. If the present paint is cracked or peeling, you'll want to scrape or sand it to remove the old paint. If most of surface needs to be worked on, you might want to buy or rent a power sander. We carry them, of course.
2. If you are painting over bare wood, you should use a primer. Clark and Kensington paint and primer in 1 will do the job. Primer helps paint last longer.
3. Check the caulking around your doors and windows before you paint. You should never caulk over bare wood; prime-paint first. Use a good caulk to be sure it lasts.
4. Use a first-quality paint to insure a lasting job. You don't want to buy the less expensive paint and then have to repaint in a year or two or have it begin peeling right away.
5. Patch any holes before painting.
6. Be careful if you are using a ladder for those high parts of the house.
7. If you don't want to tackle the job yourself, we can recommend some painters as well.
The holidays are just around the corner, so if painting was on your list of things to do, the time to paint is now.
