HAVE YOU HEARD? |

On January 1st, 2010 a new law went into effect in California. Essentially no lead can touch drinking water. In case you are are not aware, faucets are made for the most part from brass. Lead is a key ingredient in brass. We have been working hard with our suppliers to ensure we have in stock the new lead free faucets and their connections as they've become available to us. By mid December we successfully transitioned our inventory with California approved faucets and fittings. The law however, as many are, was ambiguous. Rulings had not yet been handed down on all of the various facets of plumbing products needed to deliver water to your home.
Just before the end of the year we were informed that replacement faucet parts (stems, seats, etc.) must also be transitioned by December 31st. This has created a problem for us and every retailer in California because at this time there are NO lead free replacement products available to replace the parts we have pulled from our shelves. Manufacturers are scrambling to produce them and as they become available, we will have them in stock for you.

ANNIVERSARY CONTEST PRIZE WINNER.... MARK DELUCCHI |
I always have a great experience shopping at Schemper's ACE Hardware. You walk in the door with a list of items you need or things you are looking for and someone always asks if they can help you. Usually within 10 minutes my list has been taken care of and I am on my way out the door.
My most recent experience was looking for a replacement handle for a garden hoe that came from my grandparents. It probably dates back to the early 1930's and is made out of spring steel that keeps a sharp edge. I thought I would have a problem finding a replacement handle. I went to Schemper's and Ward Schemper waited on me and within 10 minutes found the right handle for the garden hoe. I took it home and replaced it and it works as good as new.
I can always count on Schemper's to find the right part for me when I need it. |
