Already delivering some form of enterprise and want to take the next step

Interested in learning about what others are doing and want to meet with like minded volunteers, trustees or members

  • The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service announces exclusive event in Hereford

The Office of the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office today announced it is to host an event in Hereford to encourage nominations for The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for voluntary groups.

Held at The Shire Hall on 29th June at 10.30am, the event will be hosted by Lord-Lieutenant The Countess of Darnley JP, the Queen's representative in the county and forms part of a series of 14 exclusive events across the UK this summer. Each event will offer eligible groups and all those from their communities able to make a nomination the chance to learn more about the prestigious Award and the benefits it can provide for local voluntary groups.

A previous winner from the event area will also be present to talk about their experiences and what winning the Award can mean in terms of the work groups do and those who benefit from it.
Some new documents to help plan your meetings

One of the best tips to make your committee effective is also the simplest; plan a years worth of meetings in advance - not just dates, but rough agendas as well. With the new financial year about to start now is the time to do it if you haven't already.

By looking ahead to cover likely agenda items you can make sure that you have the right number of meetings at the right times. Typical agenda items are agreeing the annual budget, planning for the AGM, reporting on grants, and planning an annual awayday for the committee. Click here to go to the downloadable documents.
Meet the New Editor of the Hereford Times
Our next funding breakfast will be on May 4th at Saxty's Hereford.

We are delighted to welcome Fiona Phillips the new editor of the Hereford Times.  With her background in the voluntary sector, she will have lots of hints and tips on how to make the most of local media coverage.

The breakfast is from 7.45am - 9 am and is £5 payable on the day.

Y Team Presentation- helping those whose family member is seriously ill
Have you ever felt that you wanted to help a friend, who has had the scary news that a family member has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness?  But didn't know how?

The Y-team, part of Hope Support Services, would like to invite you on Wednesday 21st April from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm to the Wyepod at John Kyrle High School where they will be giving a presentation to give you a complete insight of the work they do.

Hope Support Services is an organisation that has been set up to offer support to the young people of Herefordshire whose parent or carer has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness. The Y-team was set up to ensure that the service that Hope Support offers is completely youth friendly and youth led.
