Free Scheme for Community Groups to access businesses' surplus goods | |
|
Giving World Online (GWO) is a scheme set up to help to community groups and charities access free surplus goods from businesses and organisations and to help businesses reduce the amount of goods sent to landfill.
In the next three months GWO will be engaging with businesses in the West Midlands region to encourage them to use GWO's free service to redirect their surplus goods onto charities and groups that could make use of them for their beneficiaries.
Since GWO's soft launch in December 2008 more than half a million pounds worth of quality goods have been redirected from landfill to more than 450 UK charities. Items include clothing, educational materials, office equipment and toiletries.
Rama added: "Groups can register now to familiarise themselves with the website, see how it works and browse the goods currently available."

The objective of this conference is to explore current thinking, best practice and policy regarding the period of life when young people emerge into adulthood. This can create an incredibly confusing and complex situation for young adults in trying to navigate their way through life and often does not take into account their vulnerability, level of maturity and the wider fast changing cultural aspects of society.
