  YOUTHBANK FUNDING UPDATE

Since April 2009 Herefordshire YouthBank has been supporting young people in the county with small grants of cash. Supported by the vinvolved team and Community Foundation, YouthBank is run by young people for young people. A panel of young people have been at the heart of the decision making from the beginning. Youth Bank Logo

To date it has given over £11,000 out in small grants helping young people to turn their good ideas in the community, into reality. Moving towards the end of the financial year, Herefordshire YouthBank has a small amount of money left to fund projects until the end of March. They will then be moving into year 2 with a whole new round of funding.

Applications are welcome from young people and extra help or support is available if necessary. Any young people interested in becoming a Grantmaker and joining the youth panel are encouraged to contact James on the details below. It is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience, with the added benefit of accredited training and outdoor activity trips thrown in!

Stronger Together: Supporting Women's Work Locally

Stronger Together: Supporting Women's Work Locally to Strengthen Women's Voices Locally, Regionally and Nationally.

Women's organisations are facing turbulent times. They are increasingly expected to justify their existence or women-only status, are being marginalised by funders and decision makers and many are at risk of closing or are having to reduce vital support services for women.

The Women's Resource Centre's Stronger Together project aims to support networks of women's organisations to strengthen the voice of the women's sector and challenge the gender neutral agenda. We want to increase the participation of the women's sector in decision making processes and work with women's networks to build a more resilient sector for the future.

Stronger Together can support you to:

v     Develop a women's network in your area.

v     Increase representation and participation of women's organisations on decision making forums.

v     Enable women's organisations to hold public bodies to account or challenge their decisions.

v     Enhance your networking and information sharing.

Free Outcomes Training
With many people having recentlyexpressing interest in understanding and using an outcomes focus, I am delighted to promote the following free training courses to you:

Can you understand and use an outcomes focus?HIC Logo

·
How much do you know about the effects of your organisation's work?

·
Are your funders asking you to report on the outcomes rather than just the outputs of your projects?

·
Would you like to know more about outcomes?

If so, you'll be interested in this free training course for voluntary and community organisations which will introduce you to outcomes monitoring, helping you to identify the changes that your project or your organisation aims to bring about, including:
·
Outcomes: what they are and what they are not
·
How to identify relevant outcomes for your work
·
Increase morale for staff and users by showing that change is happening
·
Demonstrate to funders that you are making a difference

Remember to keep up to date on news and events throughout the county by accessing our website
